On the rare occasion I have an issue with the GPS not locking, I open an app called GPS Test from the Play Store and use it to reset the aGPS data.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I've found that a reboot also tends to fix this issue.

Do you leave the GPS on all the time, or do you only turn it on when you need it? That also makes a difference.

Hey ccallinan2!
I know firsthand how important having the GPS feature available to you is otherwise I would have gotten lost on several road trips. With that said, let's tackle this issue and put it to rest.
Ultimately, the one thing of paramount importance to establish a solid GPS signal and avoiding "searching" is a great data signal. To receive an optimal data signal, my recommendation is to pull your SIM card http://vz.to/XsufPp . From there, adjust your location settings to make sure those are enabled as well. Please share if this works.
