They sent me an update and now my phone announces "verizon wireless" before my ring tone starts and then repeats itself until I answer. WTF Verizon! Bad idea to advertise when you are not cutting me a break on my bill for doing so.
try going to settings > sound, and removing the check next to Roaming tone
Sometimes with an update, settings/defaults get changed.
