Why am I getting an overlay when I receive a text ?

Shared album - J Herrmann - Google Photos overlays everything's I need it to stop!!  Well when I get a text.

It is important that you are able to use your device the way you want to, DTDYKE. What messaging application are you using? Have you tried turning off notifications for Text messages both in the phone's settings and the app's settings?
