Droid RAZR

  1. size - the droid razr has a larger screen
  2. battery - (of course this depends upon what you are doing but) the razr has up to 1290 minutes usage time the iphone only has 480
  3. 4G - not available on the iphone
  4. Removable memory - not an option on the iphone
  5. Apps - tons of free apps on an droid

You might want to check this out: http://reviews.cnet.com/best-smartphones/

I just got a RAZR recently and haven't found a thing I don't like about it.

you just opened up a huge can of worms. you are really the only one who can decide this. i would suggest going to a store and playing with an iphone and a few androids. i prefer android for that reason alone. you can try one iphone out. you can try out a dozen androids.

If you are a tech head the android operating system allows more flexability to the end user. You can even create and publish applications to use on your phone since android is an open architecture system. In the second place, though it is less important today than a few years ago, flash player works on android but to my knowledge not on i-anything..

A word of caution though, the latest droid does not have end user replacable battery and, of course, the battery is excluded from the insurance. Once the little metal connector dies, which happens over time as it gets bent by the charger connector,  you are now the brand new owner of a brick since it can no longer be recharged. Because the battery is glued in and not replacable, you can not just place the old battery on a seperate charger and throw on a new one like my beloved Droid 1 unless you rip the phone apart and void the warentee.

just to clarify, most androids do have a replaceable battery. however, the new motorolas do not (the galaxy s III which comes out next week will have a replaceable battery, along with most of the others). i'm not sure if he's talking about the actual "droid4" or just android phones in general.

Droid4, I apologize for not putting the specific phone. I was completely stoked about the new Droid4 until I started looking at the reviews. I went through 2 Droid 1 phones and each of them wore out the fitting that attaches to the charger. Given that the second one was purchased used but it still will be a problem with the Droid4 that I don't want to have to mess with.

you could always get an extended warranty. i'm no fan of insurance or extended warranties, but i think an extra year is only $2/month (not sure though). at least you'd be covered for 2 years.

my step dad and a good friend have the droid4 and love it. i was actually really impressed with it too (i'm not much of a motorola fan). particularly if you want a real qwerty.

I would also add If you are the type of person who wants to customize your screens and have certain icons on certain screens then android is what you want.  Android is all about customization.  With apple what you see is what you get.   If that plus what was mentioned above doesn't matter than choose apple.  I personally like to make my phones screens look the way I want so I chose android.  Like someone else said go in and play with them yourself. That is the only way to decide.

I would say the Droid 4. I know there's a LOT more free apps. iphones are fairly simple to use and have almost no customization. With Android OS you can do a lot of customization  with your screens, resize widgets and so forth. I have a Maxx and love it. Don't mind the size.

D AZ i'm with ya there i thought about the iPhone but since the Apps in it's store are more the pay Variety that made my decision to stay with Maxx i like the Droid 4 but was Un-Easy about the slider the Rezound Got my attention but the some of the issues that was pointed out to me Made my Decision to go with another Maxx and you know i can Charge one or both an Take them were i'm going one of them i can have shut off till the other one's battery runs down then i can fire it Up or use one for Nav while using the other to Play angry birds or something.. But the biggest thing for me is i don't have to worry about buying any more docks or Accessories for another Style Phone..b33

I have now had my Maxx for over 4 weeks.  I was also faced with the same question and I was ready to wait for the iPhone 5 to come out.  I went to my closest Verizon store.  I posed the question why would I have one over the other?  The answer to that was basically what I was coming from.  I had a HTC Droid Incredible.  It was a good phone (though it had one issue that I just could not live with which is not even close to an issue with the Maxx).  They said if you have a lot of i(whatevers) and use iTunes, the iPhone would probably be the best.  But if you have a lot of Droid then a Droid that would fir for you would be best.  For me I have an iPod Nano that I keep in my car.  So that is the closest I came for iPhone.  But since I was used  to the Droid experience and more or less liked the Android system, the Maxx seemed to be the best fit for me.  I have only had a couple of little grumbles but nothing to yell about.  But I have seen some of my friends who have iPhones also have issues too (one just had her LED light come on and stay on draining her battery and she has to have it replaced under warranty; this is a known issue too).  So neither are without their issues.  Just find what fits you best.

Not all Android phones of course, but the one thing about the Droid Maxx I would like to be better is just the screen quality.

Even compared to my old HTC Inspire it just looks a little more drab and colors just don't pop out like they do on some phones.

Otherwise the build quality seems good. Hopefully the screen cracking issue won't come up. I'm using a huge Otterbox defender case so that should protect it, but the thing is there are times I would like to just use it without a case, but I'm a bit leery of doing that after reading about how some users have had cracked screens from doing practically nothing.

From what some have posted, gorilla glass on the outside is all well and good, but if the screen inside that is fragile and breaks easily, the tough outside is rendered somewhat useless.

I too am using the Otterbox Defender. It is bulky but should protect my

phone. It does seem to diminish the screen quality though. But I would

rather protect my phone though. I found even though the Maxx is thinner

than my DInc it was bigger around thus not fitting in my pocket as well and

feeling like it would flex the wrong way possibly breaking the screen. I do

tend to use the belt clip a lot even though it can be a bit annoying. But

again I want to protect my phone.

I'm hoping that the screen breaking issue really is for a small fraction of the phones. It does seem likely that perhaps there was a batch of bad screens or phones that will hopefully impact very few people.

Some have theorized that the reason for the cracking could be in the phone being so thin and kevlar being somewhat pliant leading to the phone being able to flex a bit more.

I know I have been fine. I do watch it because of this issue. I am hoping

it was just a bad batch. Overall, my experience with the Maxx has been

great.

I made a super easy to follow flowchart

under 20 get an iphone, it looks cool

20-30 get an android, it works better

30+ get an iphone, its easier to understand

I am in that 30+ range and like the Android system.  I like how I am able to customize.  But again it depends what your needs and what you are used to.
