i am currently using a 3G only Droid X2 and plan on switching to a Droid Razr Maxx 4GLTE, the droid X2 does not use a sim card but the Razr Maxx does, the Razr Maxx will be my first 4G phone and sim card phone, i was just curious if my unlimited data will be in tact when i make this switch from a non-sim card 3G smartphone to a sim card 4GLTE smartphone.?

Depends on how you get the Razr Maxx.  You will lose your unlimited data if you sign a new two-year contract and thus get a subsidized phone  If you want to keep your unlimited data, you can pay full retail price for the new phone, get it from someplace like ebay (anywhere that doesn't require you to sign a new two-year contract), or upgrade another line on your account (if one is available) and move that phone to your line.

thank tikibar1, i am actually getting the Razr Maxx through a 3rd party seller, i was just worried about if having a sim card phone might effect my data plan being altered by Verizon.

Just make sure that the phone is clean before purchasing, otherwise you won't be able to activate it.  You'll need a SIM card for activation; you can get one free at your local Corporate Verizon store, or order one via your on-line MyVerizon account.

thanks again tikibar1! the seller did assure me that the Razr Maxx does indeed a have a clean ESN, and thanks for the input on the SIM Card as my next question would have been on how to obtain one given that the seller would not be providing one in the sale.

DO NOT rely on the seller that the ESN/IMEI is clean. This is how most get burnt

is the third party seller a private individual or a company?

if its a person, meet thm at the vzw store and have the esn checked prior to purchase, this was how i did it.

if its a company, make sure it is not a subsidized phone that would require a contract

3rd party seller as in someone on EBay or Craiglist, or a 3rd party reseller
