how can i get my droid razr maxx navigation light's to stay on....sure would be a lot easier on the eye's if the navigation lights at the bottom of the phone would stay on always. or at least be an option. I know how and why it is activated, but the fact that it turns off in bright light and only comes on when either covered while in use or very dark conditions...

Hi nickeysdog,
I see your concern with wanting to adjust the backlight options for the dedicated home/navigation keys on your Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX; however, these settings cannot be changed. The backlight for these keys are working as designed, which will allow you to get the best experience out of your RAZR's battery life.
I hope I have answered your question, and have addressed your concern.
Thanks,

I think this is pure BS from Motorola, how the heck can those little lights use much battery at all? When the front screen is on yes it will drain battery but come on the little lights I dont think so and is only phone I had that does this shutting off after a few seconds.

Bulldog the device backlight wasn't always configured this way but since the Droid X hit the market users complained of just the reverse of how you feel and this is what merit the change...
You need to understand only a small amount of users showed concern to keep the buttons lights on... When watching a movie on the device or using gps the buttons are not really needed so turning the lights off really made since but you are free to your thought on this but it helps if you look at this from both sides and not take it so personal.

What i do when i want the Navs to stay on is i touch over the sensor on top of the phone but it would be nice if Moto would have seperate settings for stuff like this just like the Led light it would it be nice to able to set it flash for things that you want it do instead of having to go out in the market but maybee that's what Motorola's Intension's were. My navigation buttons always stay off, even in dark environment, even with light sensor covered. I just got my razr maxx yesterday, and this issue is a major inconvenience. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Called tech support, had to do hard reset and buttons are now back lighted. What's concerning is that I visited a VW store yesterday seeking help, and they told me that those buttons are not supposed to be back lighted. Moreover, their display models all had the same issue.

Yep, it works fine for me now, but it took a phone reset to get it to work, and apparently reps in some verizon stores are not aware that this is an issue, let alone how to resolve it.

The reps. at the store know no more than you or me. unless you get lucky and find 1 in a million. the sensor you talk about is designed so that when you talk on the phone it shuts down the function of the keys so you don't accidentally hit them while talking and possibly losing connection...and i don't buy the battery saving feature as the reason, i think there should be an option to fully integrate the lights to be on, off or intermediate...JMO

Features like this are used to attempt to save battery life... Sometimes if you adjust the power management option to not optimize the battery life this may keep the light on like you want.
Try checking under the settings area for the power management option and see if changing them helps..

I got the same response to the navigation light question. Now, I just put my thumb over the sensor at the top of the phone when I want to see the little lights. This seems to work fine, but it takes a second for the lights to come on. That little thing was a real annoyance for a while.
