no screen

phone went black only menu on bottom (Home) (Return) (search) stays lit.....how can i reset this phone if nothing is working?

try doing a soft reset, holding the power and volume down and it should restart

it won't erase anything, its like taking the battery out

not really, but you can't pull the battery on a Razr Maxx

No problem!  For phones that don't have removable batteries, the 'power button/volume down button simultaneously for 15-30 seconds' serves the same purpose as a battery pull.

The option provided by commonsense101 is the same first step I would have recommended. Did this work for you? Please keep us posted as we want to determine if the screen needs further troubleshooting. I also ask that if it didn't power back you let us know of any other screen issues you may be experiencing. Such as a broken screen or any other damage including liquid damage.
