no voicemail notification

I have a Droid Turbo using regular voicemail. When I get a new message, there is no icon to notify me of a new message. If i call my mailbox, it tells me I have new messages, and  I can listen to them. Is there a setting that I can change to fix this?

cyclefiend - Getting an alert that you have a new voice mail message is a must. Let's get those voice mail notifications rolling in. Are you using Visual Voice mail or Basic voice mail. Check out the voice mail comparison page http://vz.to/1FDZzB7

I depend on my Voicemail notification so I can understand your concern. When did this issue begin? Has there been a recent change of device or software upgrade before this issue began? Under your notification screeen (swipe down from the top of your screen), does it show you have a new Voicemail?

Thanks for the reply, swiping down from the top does not show any voicemail icons either. I haven't changed anything on the phone recently. I've only had the phone for 2 months, it initially worked, but hasn't for several weeks now.

I rely on my voicemail every day. When you call into your voicemail, there is an option called “message waiting indicator.” What happens when you toggle this off and then back on?

Using this suggestion did not work for me. Using new "upgraded" voicemail system. press *vm, press 4, press 1 results in invalid key pressed message.

Is there any way to go back to previous voicemail service? I don't receive new voicemail notifications, and when I call voicemail, it lists new voicemails that I've already listened to, not to mention the unbelievable slow voice.  This is the worst voicemail service I've ever had, which is saying a lot since I've been around since voicemail was created.

I thought there was a notification setting within the voicemail system, but I don't recall the steps to turn it on or off.

I am having the same problem.  I have called Customer Support and they told me that I am on Basic Visual Voicemail. I don't know if that is correct or not.  I can't use the voicemail app on my phone so I am suspect that I don't have basic visual voicemail.

Secondly, there is no option for me in the voice prompts to turn the notifications back on.

The only answer tech support gave me was to rebuild my voicemail box.  That would delete all of my saved messages, an option I'm not really keen on.  I have a feeling that it won't fix the problem either since my wife's phone started doing this also after the system upgrade.

I'm on my third phone since January and got this one 3 days ago and I can't use voicemail it tells me error 9997 and call a number that hangs up on me,,, I don't know what to do either.. ???
