Problems using an O2 British phone on Verizon in the U.S.

In Tampa Bay in U.S. with British phone on O2. Service here with Verizon works partially but can't get full reception bars and can't send or receive SMS to England. The phone is a Motorola E 22.

Huawei phones are sold overseas, but not in the US as far as I know...or if they do sell them in the States, not many have them. I suspect the issues with the Huawei phone are also related to it not supporting 5G and/or being a GSM-compatible phone and not supporting CDMA.
If you are visiting the US, don't know if there's a way to get your Moto E22 to pick up a different network, as Verizon is the one unusual wireless network having a CDMA-based history while everyone else including Verizon's US competition was GSM-based? (The cell phone joke used to be, "even works on Verizon".) Then maybe your phone would work a little better? The other carriers are mostly 5G now too, so there's not a way around that short of getting a 5G-capable phone.
If you are now living in the US permanently or long-term, would suggest buying a new phone. With all the network upgrades in recent months, your E22 is likely going to quit working sometime in the future as more and more 5G is brought in. Even if you were to switch providers, with them having large 5G networks as well, you'd still be seeing service issues. There are some inexpensive 5G smartphones out there, or you could look into buying one of the older generations of big-name brands, as the prices go down after a couple years for the big-name brands.

Hi, the Motorola Moto E22 is a GSM and LTE phone, which means that it doesn't support 5G. With Tampa, FL being a 5G UW city, most of the technology on the Verizon towers there is 5G of some sort. Verizon's network was historically CDMA-based, which is another issue as the E22 doesn't support CDMA.

Many thanks. I"m sure that's right. Strange thing, I only bought this phone in London in February. Was looking for something inexpensive. Previously I had the same SIM card in an old Huawei-y-3[phone number removed per the Verizon Terms of Service] Android smart phone. With the Huawei, when I was in the Tampa area many features such as internet access did not work. But SMS did work. Curious.
