In the past, when I have clicked on a photo I received in a text message, I could save it to VZ Media. However, something has recently changed. Now, when I click on a photo, & click on save to VZ media, it says "saved" but the photo is nowhere to be found. Also, the VZ media folder is no longer visible in my photo gallery. What happened? My phone is a Motorola Droid Z.

This might be a similar situation.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

If you're using Messages+, I'd ditch that. I have an unlocked S20 and use the default Samsung app it came with. Saving a photo from text does the logical thing and saves to my phone's download folder like it should.
