For more details on international service, do a search on the Verizon website for "international service".
In a nutshell, there are a few different options depending on whether you are a prepaid or postpaid customer.
Postpaid customers:
-Travel Pass (daily charge)
-International Service Plan (monthly charge)
-Pay As You Go (pay per use, gets expensive)
-Cruise Daily Pass (for when you are in international waters on a cruise ship)
-If your phone is unlocked, buying mobile service from a local carrier in the other country and not using Verizon service at all (will have a foreign phone number instead)
Prepaid customers:
-Travel Pass (if Travel Pass is enabled in your account). Must have a balance of available funds loaded into your account prior to going abroad as prepaid customers must prepay for everything.
-If your phone is unlocked, buying mobile service from a local carrier in the other country. If Travel Pass is disabled in your account and/or you do not have a positive balance in the account, Verizon Prepaid service does not work at all overseas.
BTW this thread is in the Off-Topic Lounge for some reason, and this part of the forums doesn't get much visibility, so if you have future questions about Verizon services, I'd create the thread in the mobile, Fios, or home internet forums depending on the topic.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
