My husband and I are long-time Verizon customers . We’ve also been part-time residents in Oceanside, Oregon for 32 years and have just put up with no Verizon cell coverage there all this time. Now we’re retired & spending much more time there. The question is Why doesn’t Verizon provide coverage in this popular coastal community only 75 miles from Portland. We would rather not change carriers, but may have to. There is cell coverage just a few miles outside of town. What will it take to get coverage in Oceanside?

I'm wondering if it's the water which is causing the problem, because bodies of water can definitely interfere with cellular reception. The coverage map shows it as a 4G LTE area, no 5G. If you're an iPhone user, switch the network band to LTE to see if that helps. Or it's just that the network isn't adequate there for current needs. If you've reported the problem previously, someone in Verizon must be aware that it's an area for improvement, but this is one of those Rome wasn't built in a day things. With you spending a lot of time there now, things you can try are:
- getting a Verizon network extender for your Oceanside home (needs a wired broadband internet connection to work, preferably cable internet)
- investing in a 3rd party signal booster system compatible with Verizon to amplify weak cellular signal
- asking the neighbors in Oceanside who they use to see if another provider works better, or if your phone is unlocked and supports dual SIM/eSIM, to do the free trials the other guys offer
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.
