Verizon has proven to provide the most horrible customer service in my 55 years of being a consumer. Between the on-hold times and the deceptive account reps, I have ended my 30 year stint as a Verizon customer. Example-I have friends who use other cell phone carriers with comparable plans that are paying significantly less than we were for our Verizon service and they were satisfied with their service. I called Verizon and once I went through the voice prompted menu to get to a human being (the web site was very vague as to what the plans provided), I was connected and told the person we wanted to lower the cost for our two phones. Our current costs were $122.00/month. After a bunch of back and forth, the rep told me she could do something for $74.00/month. I said ok and when our bill came through, it went up to $148.00/month-more money! I called another rep and after being on hold for 45 minutes total, she put me back on my old plan for $100.00/month which throttles data at 2 GB. I said okay and then called Consumer Cellular and got a plan for 2 phones with 5GB of data per month for $45.00 with tax. Consumer Cellular customer service was quick, courteous and in 20 minutes i had my new plan and will be cancelling my Verizon service.
