Can't use eSIM from alternate carrier on Verizon phone

I am testing AT&T connectivity at my home. I went to AT&T and had them install an eSIM on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Then I took that device home and deactivated my Verizon SIM. This made the AT&T SIM primary. When I make a call, I get the message "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. This call cannot be completed because there are restrictions on this line."
Has anyone seen this? As far as my phone knows, I should be on AT&T's network at this point, so I'm unclear on why Verizon is in the mix at all.

The issue is resolved. I had to power down and eject the physical SIM, then reinsert it and power back up. Now I am able to make calls on the AT&T network.
