This goes to show, have a map, and cash!!! Stop listening to every one say its the age of electronic payments and internet. When it goes down we're dumb and the company could care less as we all paid already....

Because of this outage, I can't go to work as an uber driver! I'm connected to my internet via my cable company.. So if I go away from the house, I get no service whatsoever! Only emergency calling available.. nothing else
Where do I file a claim for the missing wages because I can't use my phone to work?

Same. I work DoorDash and cannot work due to the outage, it’s a holiday weekend and I’m missing out on money. I wonder can we file a claim as well.

Phone companies doing what they do best, burying their head underground and waiting for the storm to pass. Several million dollar fines from by the FCC is the only way they will learn, or maybe another massive wave of clients leaving their company….starting by me

Verizon is experiencing a major, nationwide wireless service outage as of August 30, 2025, which has affected tens of thousands of customers across the United States. The outage is being blamed on a software issue and has led many devices to display "SOS" or "No Service" status, which means emergency calls remain possible but standard cellular service is otherwise unavailable.
Outage Details
Outage reports began increasing late Saturday morning, with incidents peaking early afternoon and over 23,000 reports of lost service nationally by around 2:40 p.m. (Pacific).
The disruptions affected large regions across the U.S., including California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and particularly the Northeast.
Verizon acknowledged the outage and confirmed a software issue is at fault. Engineers are actively working to resolve it; however, no estimated time for full service restoration has been given as of the latest updates.
Customers are encouraged to check Verizon’s official network status page for real-time updates.
What to do:
Phones in “SOS mode” can still dial 911 for emergencies, even if standard service is unavailable.
Apple and others recommend troubleshooting steps: toggling Airplane mode, restarting the device, checking for carrier settings updates, and installing the latest iOS updates.
Verizon has apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized it understands how important mobile connectivity is.
This is one of the largest Verizon outages in recent history, and many users have taken to social media to report and discuss the disruptions.

I see that. The 5g's are affected, but my old s10 that I use as a home phone is not affected at all. It is a 4g.

EricD94, I'm sorry you've been running into the SOS situation. As a little background, the SOS is iPhone's new method of displaying 'No Service.' We can troubleshoot and see what's up, so we've sent a Private Note to help get that started.

Verizon does not care. They know the service is down and do not proactively post on social media. And customer service is holding for hours. Or bots bouncing you around!!
