Verizon network is experiencing a nationwide outage and has place my newer IPhone on SOS since noon time California.

My phone keeps going into sos mode. I’ve lived in the same place this has never happened. I have to reboot phone every time. I have to have service as I am a first responder. Can someone help me
@KWCRod4 I've been with Verizon since they bought out Cingular a loooong time ago. And yesterday was the first time I've ever had a call just drop then go into SOS mode!? The only time it's ever happened before was up in the Northern paper woods of Maine and that's to be expected cause the only thing up there are Bear and Moose and they don't need phones! I mean seriously why/how would it even do that by itself?
Oh, no! Dealing with service issues can be overwhelming, especially if your signal drops to SOS mode. When did the issue start? What recent changes have you made? Who else is experiencing this problem. Aside from the SOS status, any other issues?

I’ve been having this EXACT issue. But usually only at my house. Thankfully I have WiFi now but when our WiFi isn’t working I can’t contact anyone or even use my phone. It basically becomes a glorified brick. My phone service use to be amazing, but it goes into SOS mode all the time now. If I’m paying this much for phone service then it should work the way it’s supposed to. Please help.

This seems to be happening to soooo many people. No private messages…let us all in on the conversation. This also just started happening to me...that Ive noticed. Could have been happening longer with calls that I never knew about. I’ve had this happen while driving in areas I would not be surprised but now it’s happening daily at my home and never had this problem in the past. When you do an internet search, it’s happening EVERYWHERE.

Im having the same issues as everyone else on here. I have 3 kids and can’t just suddenly be unreachable. I was in the car with my daughter when this happened and my husband almost called the police! These silly messages from the Verizon folks with the feigned empathy just make it worse. Never had this issue once in my life till switching to Verizon for the first time 2 weeks ago. Based on all the comments here and the poor support with broken links I will be switching and never coming back. So mad.
This is happening to me as well. I have 3 kids and can’t just be unreachable for periods of time. I was driving with my daughter when it happened and my husband almost called the police! Lucky. I’ve had them for about 15 years and over the last year my Verizon phones have said SOS way too many times. I live in south Florida, not rural. I’m going to switch carriers.

This keeps happening to me! I also have Verizon’s ish
internet/cell service , and anytime my internet goes out, my phone immediately goes into SOS as well. So I lose complete service, and can’t call out for help or get a connection. I have to keep trying to reboot or literally get in my car and drive out of my complex before I get any service. I work from home so this is a huge problem for me. I absolutely hate Verizon. Please tell me if anyone has found a fix! As you can see, others around me who have Verizon will have service and their WiFi will pop up, but mine would NOT! I’m so sick of them! HELP!
I’ve been a Verizon Customer for the past 16 years. I’ve had a problem with one of my lines since last year in November. The call drop and get SOS cannot receive calls or text messages randomly. no one has been able to help me. I need help or I will have to go to a different service Carrier.

Since November? Its almost September.
I’m so frustrated I updated my phone because a Verizon employee told me to because my phone kept going into sos. I updated the SIM card and it still drops calls all the time and currently been in sos all day. I know multiple people also experiencing the same issues with sos who also have Verizon. This is a network issue. Please fix this. This is not good for emergencies and work, I need my phone working.

I have been on hold for about 4 hours and my phone is stuck in SOS mode and no one is helping me and it is getting very frustrating that it has now happened to me twice
Same for mine…about a week of sketchy service. Hopefully it’s fixed soon. At least I have WiFi
Why is service down over 5 hours? My 15 year old son’s phone has been on SOS for over 5 hours. He was at a large public venue and we could not speak to him. He could not call Uber teen. I went on social media and Verizon said to DM them and they would jump right in. I did so and got a bot message trying to sell me Verizon internet. Where is your customer service Verizon? This is a safety issue.

I just paid my $140 phone bill yesterday but my phone has been disconnected all day today and I cannot get a hold of anyone in customer service!!!

It’s such B ! All the money we fork out each month to them !!! Was driving back from Miami Florida to Clearwater Florida with my grandma when it happened around 12:30 we were stranded we couldn’t even and still can’t call 911 if we need to!!!! Absolutely absurd . Finally made it back 6 hours later Labor Day plans ruined I still have to get to my home an hour away which I don’t even know the area well yet and I need my phone to use gps so I’m screwed as of right now. Couldn’t access my money from savings because no phone service to get on app. Still no words from Verizon no decency to be upfront about what’s going on instead they’ve been trying to cover this whole situation up for hours and hours as if nothing is wrong. God forbid people with emergency situations that can’t call 911 right now and have absolutely NO idea what is going on , can’t access their money etc etc etc. oh but Verizon wants you to make sure you pay them for your current phone bill for the month after all this is said and done. Went to a Verizon store they said the outage was nationwide and that their latest update was it was supposed to be to be back up at 4PM it was 4 when I went to the store. The store associate said that now it’s 6 PM
Verizon does not care about this. It’s happened to me several times and they act like they do not know what’s going on. Last time they blamed Apple.
I've been a loyal customer for 30+ years and my observation is that Tech Support quality has greatly plummeted in 2025. My phone randomly became stuck on SOS mode today. After calling and attempting to chat (both on laptop and phone), I'm stuck in an endless loop without a human at the other end. The "expert waiting to help" via text was not true. After a 10 minute text wait, no expert responded to the chat. Back on hold attempting to reach someone for another extended wait time. Is anyone available in Tech Support?
It’s sos mode for half of the United States all day .and Verizon is hiding it . Won’t be upfront until their customers what is going on. God forbid people need to use emergency services and can’t and have no idea what’s going on! Stranded on a 4 hour drive today with my grandma that took 6 hours to get back home!
Why don't they post the issue in detail on social media if they know it exists?
I have the same problem. I am running on WiFi at work right now. I checked my network service and it said there was an issue and they were working on it. But that’s all I saw.
My point exactly. And this isn’t the first time. I’ve complained to Verizon about the reception not being so good here in Miami. All that dang money for what? Might as well go to Metro the way Verizon’s services have been the last few years
Verizon does not care. They know the service is down and do not proactively post on social media. And customer service is holding for hours. Or bots bouncing you around!!
Because of this outage, I can't go to work as an uber driver! I'm connected to my internet via my cable company.. So if I go away from the house, I get no service whatsoever! Only emergency calling available.. nothing else
Where do I file a claim for the missing wages because I can't use my phone to work?
I have a question this is the third time this has happened. You know T Mobile customer pay a fraction of what we do and it never happens. Maybe you should charge us less and the service would be amazing like Tmobiles. This is unreal

I haven’t been able to use my phone since 1 o’clock today came home and use my husband‘s phone to call Verizon was on hold for over an hour. Went to the Verizon store with Verizon still on hold the store had a note on the door saying there’s an outage they couldn’t give no explanation to why or when the service will be back on. It’s 630 now still no service.
same here. My teenager was stuck at a large venue with no way to communicate with parents. Phone on SOS for over 6 hours now.
Just so you know, you can still call 911 in SOS mode

This is the first time in over 10 years I’ve had a network issue. I use my phone to work and now can’t make any money and was told it would be fixed by 6pm today. It has been an hour and not able to get in contact with anyone. This is very stressful!

I have 2 phones and one has been completely unusable in SOS mode since lunch and the other works just fine…… absolutely ridiculous.
We were with AT&T since they were bell south in the 1980s and this is the first major outage we've had since switching to verizon a few years ago and only my step son is impacted.
Over the weekend my s22u starting having this issue, was told my phone was old...upgraded it couple days ago and now this. So my guess is my s22u was fine and it was them, they got me to upgrade. Solid way to screw a loyal customer for a looooong time, to long, will be looking into a new carrier, thanks Verizon
Literally as I’m doing patient care and I’m also on call!!!!! My phone has been on SOS mode for 3 hours now. What is going on ?!?!? And why haven’t Verizon said anything. This is dangerous and ridiculous.
My wife’s phone suddenly dropped service this morning and went into SOS at Disney World. I couldn’t get a hold of support all day and I was turned away from a Verizon store saying there was nothing they could do. All this time my phone has worked completely fine.
Might be time to change carriers.

Out in MN as well - SOS only since about noon. Services has been spotty for weeks. ETA on restoration would be nice as well as a break on my bill since I can’t use their service.
What does Verizon plan to do about making this right. I can't speak for all Verizon customers, but I am seriously thinking about taking my families service elsewhere. As much as we pay for service it is unacceptable to go hours and hours with no service or ETA of a restoration time.
Happened on my way home today mid commute!
So this problem is keep happening and this is my 5th time from last year to today. I was with Verizon since 2011 and today I was in the out of nowhere trying for navigation and it happened. I am done with Verizon, I pay premium and Verizon have betrayed me as they told me if I don’t like I can get different services and I am going to go ahead and do that.

Verizon's service has been awful for the last 2 years. I use my phone for Uber and Grubhub and many times I have to restart my phone to make the apps work. Four months ago they told me to try a new phone and I received the Pixel 9. It's not the phone its the lousy service. It's impossible to talk with a live human also. I am taking my phone to TMobile tomorrow. Verizon should be sued for the problems they have created.

My iPhone went into sos only mode today at 12 eastern time and it’s been 7 hrs I tried rebooting and network resetting and it happen to my wife phone also and we have separate Verizon accounts but none of our kids phone is doing it only our two
I have been trying to contact someone from Verizon for hours. No one answers the calls, neither reply to messages or chat. I have patients who depend on me and I have no service for no reason. Phone says SOS for hours . Can someone help me? And yes, I’ve tried all the resetting and stuff.
It's not having no service that's the problem. It's paying for a service and not receiving it. This is the second time I've gone without service in the last month

I went through all of the troubleshooting procedures and Verizon never told me to check network status. I also didn't consider that the network was just not working on some phones since my wife's phone was connected to the network. When I accidently found the link to check network status it said, "software issue impacting wireless service". Verizon's software is pretty poor. It should have told me network status at the beginning. Really poor customer service.

I totally agree. It is not fair, especially when we are paying faithfully each month.
It truly is. This is many people’s navigation, their means of contacting family, arranging transportation, etc.
We are in Reno Nevada since noon ish today.

Or a simple courtesy email or push text saying it was an outage I thought it was just my phone for hours trying to reset this reset that switch this setting and the whole 9!!! Then after a few hours I check the app it says everything is fine.. so I thought why me?? What did I accident switch a setting or something?? Wasn’t until the news reported it that I found out using my home WiFi .. ridiculous to find out from an outside source and I don’t WNna hear about a data breach in a year either!!
