My daughter is on the Just kids plan. She sometimes needs to get verification codes when she has signed on to an app (that I've permitted), but her phone won't let those texts come through (due to the plan). Is there any way around this? She is not able to use an email address to verify her phone on these apps. Thanks

The link that was provided is useless. Has there been a real solution yet to this issue?

Our goal is to assist you as much as possible, tt77. The Just Kids plan allows unlimited text message from up to 20 trusted contacts. Since the numbers sending those codes are not listed as contacts those messages are not allow as they are not coming from contact set up as trusted contacts. The plan is working as design. I apologize for any inconvenience this information may cause you.
You can change the plan for that line of service to another plan. Please visit this link (https://www.verizonwireless.com/plans/) to review our available plans.

I've looked everywhere for a solution to this, it's incredibly frustrating. There should absolutely be a workaround like forwarding verification texts to the parents' phones.

I am having the same issue. My kid needs verification codes for certain app. Please work on something to allow/disable SMS short codes to kids plan.

Same for me. Any progress on this issue? Seems like it would be easier to temporarily switch the plan back and forth.
Do you have an ETA for when this item can be implemented?

IAmJamesGardned If I'm understanding you correctly, this restriction is part of the requirements for having this plan.

We are having the same issue. Please fix soon to allow certain apps to be downloaded. They still want to be able to use the other smartphone features even if they can only have 20 contacts! We are paying for a smartphone and want to be able to use it! Thank you.

I switched my son off of just kids specifically due to this issue and not even being able to call his voicemail since it wasn't a "contact." I added smart family as a separate service on a different plan but now I constantly receive texts saying, "Verizon Smart Family: Dylan's app removed. To reactivate pausing internet & filters, tap here https://vsf.app.link/fix" It did not do this when he was on the just kids plan. I swear, I can't win with this dang app but need it for my suicidal teenager to monitor his location 24/7.

jessbuchanan, we completely understand your concern with the ability to download certain applications while on this plan. We appreciate your feedback, and we have lifted this up to the developers to determine if this can be included. In the meantime it is recommended changing to a plan that would allow you the ability to download these apps. For instructions on how to do this, please click here (#4 under "Just Kids and Unlimited plans"): http://spr.ly/6605Hkxy7. Does this help clear up the details at this time?

Your concerns are heard loud and clear, monya306. We will lift this forum conversation up to our developers, so that they can review the situation and work on a solution. In the meantime, is there anything else we can assist with?

Has there been any development on this issue? I just got a phone for my child on the Just Kids plan and I can't even verify his school email account (his school uses Google Classroom) on his phone. Because the "20 numbers" is marketed as a benefit for parental restrictions and not as an arbitrary limit on the account, the parent account should be optioned to remove this restriction on the child's phone for a short duration in order to address this issue.

I just found a work-around although it does take a little bit of legwork. We just enrolled my daughter in the kids plan and she was trying to install Marco Polo. It needed to send her a verification code, which of course wouldn't work. After several unsuccessful attempts, I had her enter my phone number, which is on an unlimited plan.
Once I got the code I was able to see what number Marco Polo used to send their codes from (5 digit number, not a problem). We added that number to her trusted contacts in her Verizon profile (temporarily), as well as to her contacts on her phone (this doesn't work unless the number is in both places). She also had to uninstall / reinstall Marco Polo so she could try again with her phone number. Once she did that, she was able to get the verification code just fine. Happy daughter!

Literally had this issue yesterday 3/21 when we added just kids lines! Your reply worked for us. We thought we almost lost the Polo account completely in the process but thankfully it all worked out. Hopefully this is fixed & integrated with the apps soon!
