2 person icon on Messages

Re: Samsung Galaxy S8: I have a 2 person icon showing all of a sudden on a text to my friend via Messages, and now all my texts to this person show as Failed. I want this 2 person icon gone, so I can go back to texting as usual. I do not want to have to delete my messages, or delete the contact and re-enter it. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Thank you!!
