My money's on you keeping it regardless if it's fixed by then or not. I'm not a smartphone person, but how does Google get involved in this?

Yes, this is a real problem. There are threads all over the net. Ringtones are much too low. Videos can't be heard unless the phone is right next to your face, in which case, you can't see the video. I've downloaded some ringtones that play marginally louder but not loud enough.
I've reported it to Samsung. I tried to report it to Google but their web page directs you to Samsung. If we all report it, maybe a fix will be forthcoming.

I have to agree the audio is very low. The ring tones and alarms are okay for me but video is pretty much useless without headphones.

the speaker volume is VERY low. Please assertain a SOLID answer from Samsung/Google...
1.) Is this the intended design? (are the speakers only supposed to produce this low-mediocre sound)
2.) Is it a software issue? That they will patch up in an update?
I've been to the VZW store and compared my device with others in the store, and another customer's... They are all too low for any type of enjoyment...
Samsung states they've never heard of the issue before... even though, i've just read plenty of blogs/forums dedicated to this issue, and read @ least 4 Questions on their Support page about the issue...
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I do not want to:
1.) Download a 3rd party app, and blow out/distort my speakers
2.) Be stuck with a soundless phone...
PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ASAP!!! as i like this phone, but will gladly switch to the Razr, if there are NO OFFICIAL FIXES...
Thanks.

Here is a work around.
Download Ringtone Maker, make a rington that you want. You can up the volume while making the ringtong, so you can have a ringtone lough enough to hear dispite the low volume.

My phone has this problem too. It is so bizarre to see how high-tech everything on the GN is and then to have its primary purpose as a phone completely miss the mark. The vibrate is way way underpowered and the ringer is terrible. I have missed many calls and texts, it is very frustrating.
I downloaded the ringtone thing and that does seem to help, but again, that shouldn't be needed in the first place. I can't believe they released a phone that doesn't vibrate or ring appropropiately without having to use 3rd party tools. Simply unbelievable. What is this world coming to.

I miss half my calls to low volume.
When I attach a headset the volume is too low. This headset worked fine on my original DROID.
We need a fix soon or it will go back. I hear the Bionics of my son's ringing loud and clear.

Yes, it needs to be fixed. but Volume+ Pro will fix the issue. I know you say you can't see using Volume+ all the time--but what does that mean? You install it, set it, and it stays set. You don't have to reset it. You paid $300 for the phone; what's $1.62 for the app? The developer says it might not work on the stock OS, but it definitely does. I set the volume way up -- to 15, and set the EQ levels almost to the top, and it is as loud as my OG Droid was. Now if something would increase the vibration, that would he handy.

FYI, the return period is only 14 days now, not 30 days. However, Verizon has extended this period for devices purchased in the holiday season through 1/15/2012.
I agree with the above poster who correctly stated that using the app volume+ is a set it and forget it proposition. You can download a free version directly from the developer's website.

But the free version goes only to volume level 4, and other users have neede level 8 or higher. I am using level 15.

I believe the free one on the developers website is unrestricted.

@jajones203,
Not the free version in the Marketplace, the free version available directly from the developer's website. You have to download and install manually from your sd card, but it's free and unrestricted.

I am honestly lost for words...
This device is updated from Google. You need to go to Google's bug report pages and report the bug. The more people do it there the better chance of bugs being updated quickly when it comes to this device.
