I recently updated my phone and the software updated stated i can now use RCS advanced messaging with the stock samsung messaging app. I get an error code "there was an issue updating you to advanced messaging...." Can someone please explain how to fix this issue? The software update specifically stated I now have advanced messaging when in fact i still dont have it.

We understand your need to make sure the software update allows for device enhancements. Let's gather more details about the Samsung update. Was this device purchased from Verizon Wireless? What is the software number displayed in settings? -Rita K.

The Verizon tech service department has no idea what they're talking about on this. The update was pushed out recently and has affected many phones but Verizon Wireless themselves has no idea what to do about it. As a matter of fact when I called customer service they tried to have me do the same exact thing. This is an update to the messaging system for Verizon Wireless that they're rolling out the Samsung devices for better messaging system. If you end up getting this resolved please please let me know. They haven't been able to answer me and I can't seem to find anything online about it either.

I have the same problem, was excited to use the new advanced messaging and Verizon wants to tell me to call Samsung! I didn't purchase my phone from Samsung I purchased it from Verizon and y'all pushed out this update that I can't use. I'm still trying to fix it myself. I keep getting the error message that I have something blocking me from using it, but I don't! I hope Verizon can fix this, because I'm tired of cussing them out.

I think you have to be using Verizons messaging app and not the Samsung messaging app but that's unproductive for Samsung users that have their watches or any other wearable because the Verizon messaging app isn't compatible with the wearable devices. Remember samsung phones come with 2 messaging apps if you have Verizon. There is the regular Samsung texting app and then the Verizon messages app that's red but again it doesn't work with wearable so most of us turn it off or disable the Verizon one anyway. It will only give notification and not allow you to send quick responses or messages properly if you try to use the different one on the wearable device.

@WILL_WEST213 you don't have to be using Verizon messages in order to use advanced messaging.. Advanced messaging is for Samsung users who use the stock Samsung texting app that comes with the phone. Just like apple has their own use for their users. And I just finished reading your comment, and you went from texting to wearable watches. I didn't understand what wearable watches had to to with the Samsung chat features

I appreciate the insight and would like to gather some more information. What messaging application do you happen to use specifically and have all applications been updated since the update? -Chris

Do you have the latest phone update for your Samsung phone? From what I see it's working now for everyone so weird yours is not. Are you getting the error message still when you open Samsung messaging?

My device was purchased from Best Buy 2 years ago (still a verizon phone on a post-paid account). Software baseband version ends in FUH3. Also Build number ends in FUH3. Model # of my device is SM-N975U. Every app is up to date. I restarted my phone, reset the network settings, cleared data and cache for the samsung messages app and advanced messaging still does not work. I tried calling tech support last week and no one answered after i was on hold for over an hour. I am beyond frustrated about an update that includes new features such as advanced messaging and i am still unable to take advantage of it. not really much of an update if you ask me.

We definitely want you to be able to use Advanced Messaging. Sometimes with an update, a factory data reset is needed, to get the "bugs" out. Here's a link with the steps to complete that step with your device: http://spr.ly/6600y2rDg; -Jordan

Thanks for clarifying, strtrcr87. Besides the 8/31 update, were there any other changes to the phone? -Lorenzo

This appears to be a Verizon issue, based upon the research I've done.
Can VZW just acknowledge that? If so, we can either proceed with fixing it or send out a statement that says RCS doesn't work?
Honesty and transparency are the cornerstone of maintaining good business relationships with customers.
Also, your customers with Samsung "Galaxy Note" devices are likely some of your most profitable customers - it'd be wise to treat them well.

I love how 'Verizon Tech Support' on the forums here give the most rudimentary, generic, non-helpful responses. The original poster couldnt have been more clear about the steps he took. Your response that the latest software update isnt compatible with the RCS Advanced Messaging feature is garbage. When you open the (Native Samsung) messaging app it has a new welcome screen explaining the Advanced Messaging features. I spent 3 hours on the phone with Verizon to include Tier 2 Tech Support with no solution. They passed me off to Samsung Tech Support - they couldn't help me either.
Verizon Tech Support - to be clear - once in the Samsung native messaging app, hit menu/settings, chat settings, then we get "Oops. Looks like something went wrong. There was an issue updating you to Advanced Messaging. There are a few reasons that might be causing the issue."
Please give some real tech support - we've all reset network settings, we've all wiped dalvic Cache, we've all reset phone settings, we've all clear cache in the samsung messaging app, we've all force stopped and opened samsung messaging app, we've all uninstalled google messaging and other messaging apps, we've all reset default messaging apps, we've all factory reset, we've done it all.
Looking for a quality response.

So Angie from Verizon said advanced messaging isn't compatible with the note 10 plus, and you're sharing a link saying that it's only compatible with the S9 series! Not the note 10 series.. Hunter stop lying to us paying customers
