Advice for not even a newbie ... a maybie

I'm considering the Nexus, as migration from a Blackberry.

But ... I use a standalone Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 PC and I want to be able to sync that reliably and regularly and easily without going up to the cloud. Unnecessary paranoia, perhaps, but at this point I just don't want my calendar and contacts sitting on a Google computer somewhere.

I've found CompanionLink online as one (Somewhat expensive - how irritating. I think local sync should be an option for any device.) possible solution.

Do any of you have thoughts on other sync options, or have you experience with CompanionLink?

Also, I've read rumblings about setting up POP email accounts on the Nexus. I bring about a half a dozen email accounts (one a gmail account) into my BB now. Is that going to be a major hassle to set up?

Other thoughts or advice for this maybe newbie?

there are many options to locally sync Android to Outlook. Check out this link http://www.syncdroid.net/ and it has a nice table with the different option paid/free. I have no idea how each of these will work for ICS because ICS is too new for most people to have tested out their products to see how they work.

Different email accounts - depends on the email provider. You will need to check out the provider's website to find the settings for Android. I have seen that comcast and cox both have issues with mobile email and Android.

I have been testing other gmail accounts with my Galaxy Nexus (setting them up as email accounts, not gmail accounts). I find that setting them up as imap accounts works much better than pop accounts. I have Charter as my ISP and the only way to setup my personal email is imap. That conflicts with Outlook 2007/2010 (Outlook setup to Charter as a POP account. I could reset my Outlook as imap, but that is too much a hassle, and I don't need my personal email on my phone right now

Personally I use Google Calendar sync http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955 for my Outlook calendar sync needs, and my gmail account for my contact sync/backup needs. I do not sync my contacts in my Outlook as I prefer to keep my phone contacts seperate from my Outlook contacts.

My company uses MobileIron/Touchdown combination for our Exchange mobile sync needs. That works well for the most part. I like the fact that my work and personal stuff are separate on my phone
