After lollipop upgrade S5 Bluetooth no longer streams ID3 tags. Songs themselves stream ok. Also the songs no longer auto start when you start the car. Does anyone know of a fix?

bearsbar,
We certainly want to make sure you are able to stream everything without any issue! Does anything show up for the file when you are streaming them? Does the music still play? What app are you using to stream these files?

Andrew, thanks for responding.
Prior to the lollipop upgrade, when I started my car, and phone Bluetooth
found my car link, my music would automatically start playing thru the car
media system. It did not matter which app (media player, Spotify, iHeart,
Slacker, Pandora) I was using prior to leaving the car the last time. It
would remember what song was playing and start right back up playing that
song once the car was running. I could also see the title of the song, along
with the artist and album title. A very nice feature that set the Samsung
phones apart from many other suppliers.
However since the upgrade, once the car Bluetooth link is established, I
have to go into the phone, start up an app (the phone no longer remembers
what was in the buffer), select the station, hit play and wait for the
buffer to fill before I could hear the song playing on the car media system.
At that point the song plays nicely. But the car media display screen will
no longer show the song title, artist, or album IDs.
Hope a software patch will be available soon.
Cheers
Barry

I hope that Verizon is aware and that it can be corrected. Lots of Hondas with the issue.

Same issue:
Droid Turbo, 2013 Audi (MMI) -- Pandora worked fine under Kit Kat, but I lost my song artist/title/album info AND track length timer under Lollipop. Auto play seems inconsistent, and "skip track" still works.
However, playing audio from a YouTube video shows title / track / time info properly.
I've also emailed Pandora on this since clearly the ability is still in the system, but this seems common to Lollipop users.

Speede541,
I use my music in my car all the time, so I definitely understand wanting to continue to be able to do so. Are you still able to listen to music, its just not showing the information? Have you checked with your car manufacture to see if they have an update for your car's bluetooth system? This may help with displaying these options.

Hi ErinW,
Music plays fine.
Track info is missing.
Time counts up indefinitely.
I'm pretty sure it's a Pandora problem. Spotify, Google Music, and YouTube DON'T have this problem.
It's likely not an auto manufacturer issue, and I'm running their current software.

Speede541,
Nate, I would have to agree with you that it sounds like something more with the Pandora app, especially since your other music apps seem ok. Have you made sure the app was up to date? Did you try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it?

So does Verizon train their support staff to only respond to problems related to non-Verizon software/apps? I've yet to see any assistance with what is clearly Verizon's issue. Not even a "we're working on it." Totally non-responsive and it's enough to make me ready to switch providers as soon as I can.

IDK, seems like they respond to most all threads related to Verizon and non-Verizon apps, in time, that are posted.

Okay, let me know when they have a fix for the BT issue that has persisted for months now but not even been addressed, other than to blame the car manufacturers or the music apps.
For the record, Verizon, my issue happens in my car and also when using my BT headset, and with multiple apps. So it's not a car or app issue.

Let's get your device working as it should, grazamataz. New software was released recently to correct some issues with the prior release. What software version do you see in Settings - About Phone - Baseband version? Do you see any system updates available in Settings?

I am having the same problem with my S5 - Pandora metadata is no longer showing up on my Lexus ES300h vehicle after the lollipop software upgrade.
To answer your question to the other poster, my baseband version is I545VRUGOC1 (not sure if that is an O or 0, look like an O). According to my phone, there are no software updates pending.
Note to everyone, I often use Amazon Prime Music and I see the song information using that with no problem. In fact, the data that comes from Amazon Prime Music remains on my car screen even if I am using Pandora. It is as if the car remembers (or the phone pushes) that instead of what it being played on Pandora.
I've stopped using Pandora in my car for this reason.
Hope this helps.

I am having the same issue. My car is a Honda Civic and song info no longer displays on the screen like it used to. I have cleared cache, performed a factory data reset, all wit no luck. Honda says it is not their issue, they claim their head unit works as it should. Samsung says it must be Honda's issue because the lollipop update is backwards compatible for Bluetooth. I keep hoping somebody gets it fixed SOON.

The problem with Bluetooth streaming of ID3 tags might be limited to Honda products. It does not stream in my 2014 Acura TL. I just started up my 2014 toyota Sienna Van and all worked normally. I am guessing the software upgrade is no longer compatible with the Honda firmware. It would seem logical that, unless the lollipop upgrade contains specific code unique to each manufacturers media player, Honda may need to create a patch for their head unit.
Curiosity question: are there any others out there that have lost there ability to stream ID3 tags to other car manufacturer media players with the lollipop upgrade?
Cheers

Same issue here, I have a 2014 Honda Civic that was displaying song id fine up until the lollipop update. I took it to the dealership and they said there was no firmware update for it. Any music I stream from an app will not display song information. There is one thing that I noticed is that if I play the Samsung Over the Horizon song that is preloaded on my S5 through the music player, it will display the info for that. I have not yet tried other mp3 files to see if that works but I really hope Honda/Verizon/Samsung can get a hold of this issue and send out a patch. It's very frustrating and this update for our phones is actually performing like a downgrade from what we had ![]()

Same here. 2015 Honda Pilot. Got a new S5. It worked great for a day. Then it updated and now no longer displaying Track, Artist... on the Car Display. Had an S3 with latest software before getting the S5 and it has always worked.
Called Verizon and they said to repair which did nothing to resolve the issue.
