The update is out for the S6 and S6 Edge but not the S6 Edge Plus.

I have a Galaxy S6, I did the update yesterday, charged my phone back to 100% and the battery has continually been draining at a fast rate. Overnight, I charge my phone on a wireless pad and it didn't even charge all the way last night. Turned it off this morning and it could charge up to 100%. When I took it off at 7am the battery usage said it would continually drain and be empty by 1pm. I've continued my power saving and auto screen brightness, and the battery still drains. The Andoid system has taken up the most battery usage. There's other little glitchy things with the update too. I'd wait until they come out with a fixed update

Read that the battery drainage was bad with this update. Was hoping they fixed and that's why took so long with getting it out.

We want to take the time to thank you all for being a member of the forums. We have been in contact with Samsung and the software team.
There are several things that may impact battery life, specifically after an operating system upgrade or software update:
After a software update or Operating System upgrade, certain parts of the memory system may be altered/optimized/cleared depending on the specific update in question. The application memory areas may have to be optimized. This can take time and cause the device to temporarily use more battery while the optimization is in progress. It can take time for the new software to optimize its performance and for the devices battery life to normalize. Downloaded applications may not be optimized for the new OS version. This may result in higher than normal battery drain until the application is updated or removed.
Please test the devices in safe mode to ensure the concern is application related and if battery life improve.

I updated my phone 6 days ago and still have significantly low battery life and need to charge my phone twice a day, where prior to the update I could get by 1 full day of battery life before having to charge. It still takes significantly longer to charge on the wireless port, and does not even charge completely through the night where it could before. I look at my battery usage and it doesn't appear that any personal apps are causing this issue, rather it is the Arndoid OS that has used 31% of battery life, Google play services 12%, Android System 9% and my non-android apps following with 5% or less. I turned my phone on in safe mode and the battery still decreases at a fast rate.

We appreciate all that you've done! May I ask how long the device was in Safe Mode for? What type of battery drain did you see once in Safe Mode?

Last night, I put the device in safe mode and it could charge to 100% on the wireless charging dock. Today, after 5 hours in safe mode the phone didn't drain as fast, but still quicker than before. The screen took 33% battery, Android OS 23%, Android System 11%, Cell standby 9%, Google Play 8%. The following three hours I took the phone off safe mode (total of 8 hours off the charger) and had Android System 30%, Screen 23%, Google services 9%, Android system 7% and others 5% or below.

EmS2, we are happy to hear that the phone battery lasted much longer today. Many times we find that a large software update will simply require a few days to optimize. One thing that you may wish to check, is if your applications are all up to date for this new software. Please go to the Play Store, select the three lines to the top left, select Settings, is the Auto Update selected?

Yes, the auto update is selected. DerekG14 I always have my power saving on and it has been set at immediately.
Any other ideas what might be draining the battery? Is it normal that the "Android OS" to take up 37% of battery life and Google Services to take up 18%?

You might want to turn off the Auto Updates for the Applications.

As of right now my OS is running at 29%. Seems high but I'll have to look into it. I always hit the 'end all' button whenever I set my phone down after using it for social media, phone calls or applications.

Why are you not letting the OS manage its own resources? Based on your usage it will learn to know which applications to keep in the RAM and which ones to not. By you ending all your applications at once is essentially telling the OS to load them into the RAM again immediately therefore using the battery excessively.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I wonder if DerekG14 means he "Close all" for the open apps from the bottom button on the screen so they don't pull extra battery life. I do not think this means going into the application settings and closing all of those that way. Maybe I understand incorrectly.
I do not think turning off Auto Updates would be idea, especially with new android software updates I probably wouldn't check for app updates frequently to make sure they are keeping up with new software updates. Thanks for the suggestion though, Ann154

It still does the same thing from the recent applications view.

That's what I mean 'Close All'. Sorry. Knew I made a mistake when I tried to do it. Left at 555am and have 36% now left at 506pm. On wifi with the battery saver on. Had some pretty good usage today.

I have found out that the 'power saving' needs to be on all the time. And be active immediately instead of at 20% 30% or 50%. It may restrict some background data and dim the screen but I get at least 12-14 hrs on a single charge. From 600am to 800pm on a good day with decent usage.

I would advise against doing the update yet given all the problems with OS 6.0.
