Android System eating battery since update in July

A software update was pushed to my phone in July, and since then the Android system is using more than half of my battery. When I first got the phone the  Android system used around 20-23% and now it is using 49-58% of my battery. When I select the graph view I see my Mobile Network Signal is brown all the way through. I am in Lincoln, NE. My roommate has the same phone, we live in the same place and he does not have these issues. What can I do to help this?

Hello Oddstar

I'm very sorry your having issues with your S4. Let's work together and get this resolved. I'm not showing any issues in the Lincoln area. Let's see if an application is causing this error. Please power it in safe mode and retest. Here's how: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=77504&lid=sayt&sayt=safe mode gala*

If the issue persists please back up and try a hard reset. Here's how: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=77507&lid=sayt&sayt=hard reset galaxy s4*

Please let me know if the issue persists

I always strongly suggest after a major update, that you backup your info, pix and such and do a master reset.
