I Have Sent my Phone in 4 Times and they are having me send it in for # 5

They sent a NIB Phone last Time And I Activated it and with in 2 Hours it was Missing calls.

The Calls go to Voice mail after the 5th ring when I called and my Phone Does not Ring.

Until you hit power Button to Wake it up

ED05 has fixed all problems on the phone

my phone has been off the bharger for 19 hours moderate use Calling ,web,email,texting all day

Still have 80 % Battery and have not had Any Missed Calls or texts

I have had nothing but trouble with phone. I really like the phone itself, but do not like not receiving calls or even a missed call notification!! I'm missing text left and right and to top it all off, the girl at our closest Verizon store told me it was 'not Verizon's problem. It's a Samsung issue.'

Ok. True, but VERIZON is the carrier and ultimately responsibe for this phone.

I have had this phone for just about a month and in that time I have had next to no customer service help at all. Now, I realize that phones being increasingly run like mini computers throws kinks into the mix. I'm open to the idea that stuff happens, but I am NOT open to the RUDE, IT'S-NOT-OUR-PROBLEM attitude that the customer service people have handed me. I have had trouble since day one and every time I called or went in, they said 'here we'll do this and it should work.' It hasn't.

My sister is ill, Verizon, I NEED to be able to receive phone calls from her and this phone is my only option. I do not have a home phone and I chose a Verizon phone because Verizon has the best all over coverage. Period. But you people are rude and need someone big and bad to take all your money so that you'll remember that you don't bully customers just trying to have an issue resolved in good faith.

The customer service guy, on the 2nd teer technical issues, George, did some updates on my phone on the July 6th and said he would call back on my husband's phone the following Sat. Of course, being the blatant, lying, cheating, dispicable people that Verizon is and hires to represent them, he never called back. Sat. I called and finally unleashed on whomever picked up the phone. I would have asked for a supervisor, but the truth is that they would have lied about being one anyways.

Finally, I put my No-nonsense-we're-doing-things-my-way husband on the phone and he FINALLY got them to at least send me a 'like new' phone. Samsung Fascinate, of course Hopefully this one is better, but we'll see. At the very least, we forced them to acknowlege a discount to cover the cost of the plastic screen protector. We'll see if that happens, too.

All in all, Verizon Wireless has defiinately lived up to their reputation as a large, hairy, cheating, coniving bunch of A-holes.

Been having this problem since the latest 2 updates. Would get missed calls, no vmail notifications, delayed or no text messages at all (both receiving and sending end). Lousy connection going from 3G to 1x to roaming. (sorry, i did not pay $225.00 a month for crappy **bleep** service..i could have gone to tmobile for that).

Reset my phone. deleted all apps on my phone since verizon customer service said it could possibly be a bug when you access internet sites. *228 several times. took out battery.

Does it work??? NOPE!

Seeing the list of complaints here, Verizon still does not believe it is their fault, nor the phones. Stuck with this **bleep**ty **bleep** phone, and crappy **bleep** service unless I break my 2 yr contract. Only had my phone since Oct 2010.

What to do?

As for them saying that it is Samsung's problem Did you order your phone from Samsung or do you pay over 2 hundred to Samsung a Month I think Verizon had better start thinking a little

And all these phone's should be pull from being sold until they fix this problem

Tells you what kind of Company they are when they are hooking people In to a 2 Year Contract when they know the phone is Broke and Can not receive Calls reliably

I called earlier today, and there seems to be a disconnect between the people in tech support and the fact that this forum even exists.

I mentioned the problems explained in detail here, and the directions we were given, and I was told, verbatim, that "the community boards are just other customers and it's easy for rumors to get started there." Further, the rep stated that "if VZW employees are posting on those boards, they aren't supposed to be. They're not authorized to do that." I was told explicitly to disregard any of the instructions I'd been given here, and to disregard any of the information provided by Mike or any other VZW employee on these boards.

I was eventually escalated to an employee who claimed to be unaware of the issue with the Fascinate. After I explained in great, angry length, in detail, she suddenly became aware of this issue and offered to replace my phone.

Somebody needs to do some coordinating between your departments, or you're going to risk **bleep** off your Fascinate user base even further.

Same thing happened to me. I just got off the phone with tech support. I was told they had no idea what Mike was referring to and furthermore they claim they are not able to access the forums themselves. So I read them Mike's posting with the promise of a new policy for the missed call issue and was informed that this only meant that a software fix was in the works but not yet available.

My rep wasn't quite as belligerent, but she told me that she had no idea that there was even an issue with the Fascinate and to try a *228 update or replace my phone with another warranty Fascinate.

There were three comparable phones to choose from. The Samsung Droid Charge, HTC Incredible 2, Droid X2 by Motorola.. You are paying Verizon for cellular phone services. These services should work. If they sold you the phone then it really is their problem- PERIOD. Don't let them jerk you around. You deserve a phone that works as this is part of your contract. Don't give in to factory reset and getting a million other fascinate phones sent to you because this does not solve the problem. My phone works worse since allowing them to talk me into resetting it.

When calling into Verizon remember they have call centers all over the US. If you don't like what you are hearing. Hang up and call again. The biggest thing I have found is don't back down. Fight it out with them. I spent over two hours fighting then hung up and called again and was able to get a replacement phone.. Bottom line is they are providing a service with equipment that you have bought through them that they state works. I don't care if it is a Samsung phone- Verizon sold it so Verizon needs to fix it. There should be no more of we understand how inconvenient this is and we are waiting for a fix. Not acceptable. Most people need their cellular phones to work and the fascinate is not reliable and has MAJOR issues. Good luck...

I bought the Samsung Fascinate about 2 months ago and I really loved the phone. I was having a slight issue with the phone re-sending old text messages to people prior to the update. But, after the update I began having more issues. I called verizon via 611 a week ago and did some troubleshooting. The troubleshooting was literally just to take the battery out of the phone. The women said if the problem persists to call back. I called back 2 days ago and a tier 2 tech said we have a resolution which was to replace my phone with either the Charge, X2, or Incredible 2. I chose the Charge which had to be ordered from a store. When I went to verizon store yesterday--they stated they would not replace the phone with any other phone than a Fascinate. I asked if the call-in cust. service was authorized to make these decisions and they simply said that it comes down to what his store manager says. I like the fascinate, but wanted Verizon to do what they told me they would do. I called cust. service when I left the store and verizon techs called the store and had them process the order and my new Charge is being overnighted.

Is it normal for Verizon stores to dissent from the call-in cust. service?

When dealing with Verizon you have to be firm and down right angry. Let them know you will NOT take another fascinate and that you expect them to replace your phone. Let them know all the problems you have had. Factory reset does NOTHING- if anything it makes your phone worse.

New to the forum, and super glad i am not the only one having these issues. Been to verizon 5 times in the last two weeks since they upgraded my phone to Froyo. I am missing calls/txts, its eating my battery to the point where i need a charger everywhere i go, its sluggish, it lags big time. Here is what i have been thru, updated software, was told by verizon to do a master reset, did reset, went back to verizon and they sent a reconditioned fascinate, same issue, told to get rid of task killer and lookout apps which i have had since day 1 (9 months ago). I am so sick of this crap with verizon, if i cannot figure it out i am calling my corporate Verizon rep and I am going to rip him a new {word filter avoidance}. This is their screw up and now we are left to pick up the pieces.

I have 3 Fascinates. Starting sometime in the last month or two, all 3 are experiencing:

- Missed calls

- not sending and/or receiving text messages.

- Battery life not what it once was.

- GPS still taking too long to lock or will not lock at all.

The above issues need to fixed ASAP as they are the fundamental reasons to have a smart phone

or any phone for that matter.

All three purchased new from Verizon Sept 2010.

All three have had factory resets done and MEID resets by Verizon tech.

None have ever been rooted or messed with.

None have ever had a task killer installed.

Problems occur after a factory reset and prior to installing any market apps.

I do not and will not replace 3 new phones with 3 refurbished.

The problem is not in the hardware. This is an android/software issue.

So 'whomever' is responsible, please fix

OR allow us to early upgrade to a different non-samsung phone

if neither Verizon nor Samsung can or will fix this soon.

Verizon has accepted some fault regarding this upgrade, check with Tech Support and ask for an exchange for a different phone, not a replacment

I found out it is not every phone

I bought my son a phone off eBay it has a build date of 3/11 and it does not miss call's Period left it over night and still could not get it to miss call's

My First phone and my NIB replacement had build dates of 9/10 and they will both start missing call's after the hour Idle

This is baffling to me because I thought it was all Fascinates and it was all Software

But I found out it is Not

You are correct that not all Fascinates are having problems, but the most recent update certainly opened the door for Fascinates to have problems. Some people are experiencing poor battery life but no dropped/missed calls. Some people are missing calls but getting decent battery life. Some people are experiencing both these things and other problems, as well (unlucky lot, these people).

If your son's phone doesn't have any issues then you should consider it a good thing. Like many people, I bought the Fascinate because it met the criteria I had for a new phone, not because I hoped it would crap out and I could trade it in 3 months later. If I wasn't having any problems with my phone, I'd be happy; but that sadly isn't the case.

Did we know that the phones they are offering to replace the Fascinate are pre-owned reburbished phones? I went to the corporate store. At first they told me, I would have to pay for the upgrade and I could only have a Droid 2, then when I called tech support at the store the woman told me indeed we had the choice of the Charge, X2 and Incredible 2 but they would be replacement phones not brand new ones. I don't find this acceptable. The Tech's excuse was that I'd be returning the Fascinate used. I told her, yes, but I wasn't returning it because I wanted to. I LOVE the phone, but it's faulty, if they're selling faulty equipment (even if it's a software problem), it should be replaced with a whole new phone. It's not my fault it misses calls! I did't replace the phone today. I'm not giving up a phone to replace it with a phone that was returned probably because it was faulty. I'm furious!

The problem is in the kernel, not the PRL (replacing the phone, or deactivating and *228 will not work).

This problem was fixed by developers on a stock android rom (I do not recommend the average user to install this as it will void your warranty and is unsupported by Verizon). I am running it and I have had LESS bugs from a community build then from two major companies (Verizon and Samsung). I am highly dissappointed with this device (I have had 10 replacements so far) and I am probably going to switch to Sprint when my contract is up. I am also tired of the phone choice that Verizon has (the Mecha a.k.a. Thunderbolt has been in development since summer of 2010, and the Droid Charge is a bigger fascinate with LTE). Verizon does not have any dual core phones available (I don't count the Droid X2, because ever since Motorola has started signing and encrypting the bootloaders, I gave up on them. This also goes for Verizon encouraging it).

I thank Samsung for making a phone that lets me fix my own issues, or else I would cancel my contract and move to Europe (I'll be sure to skip Vodafone, or anything else relating to Verizon in any way), because over there, this stuff doesn't happen. Or if I were to stay in America, I would switch to Sprint.

This post is more directed at Verizon and if you do not know what any of this means, then skip this post.

Same here. I have my account noted and ready to get Charge without any more explanations (thanks to Mike) but I'm still waiting for the fix. I played a little bit with Charge and I didn't like it. It's too big and bulky for me and physical keys instead of touch keys is no go. 4G is tempting and as far as I know it has better overall reception so it would be a plus for me also (weak signal at home, -106dBm with Fasc). DI2 looks nice but it has poor custom developers support so it would be big downgrade from great Fascinate community. I’m sticking with Fascinate till the end of the month and see what’s then. Oh and getting new accessories would be pita (OtterBox case, screen protector and car mount so ~$60 total).

Add another one here. I am still not receiving texts and calls after the last update. Is there an ETA on the software fix??? I really don't want to deal with the hassel of switching out phones. I can't believe my Fascinate does everything except receive calls and texts....unreal isn't that the phones main purpose?!?

I am also having the same issues but did not notice it until recently. I will receive a voicemail notification but when I look in the call log it only shows the voicemail and not the missed call. It is very frustrating to find out work and family thinking that I am ignoring their calls. And the worst is if they don't leave a message I never know that I have missed a call. So to say the least I may be missing more calls and actually receiving :smileysad:

I just called Verizon and they went through "The Process" of fixing it for me and then calling to make sure I got the call. Well, that was a call that I received but who is to say that if they called me 10 times that I might not be getting 9 of them??!!! So, if I have any more issues I am to call them and they will have me do some more things to my phone - like a hard reset - which I will loose everything off my phone - HELLO - I don't want to go there. Please just fix the issue!!!!

So frustrated!!!

My wife and I both have the fascinate and are also not getting calls from time to time. At this point looks like there is not going to be a fix as there has been no update.. What sucks is we bought new phones a month month and a half ago and all we were offered we refurb fascinates for customer service and they would not transfer us to tech 2. at this pint we are stuck with what we have. I don't want someone else phone that got returned and used or was broke now you get stuck with problems again. like buying a new car to only have problems then they give you a used one with miles. just not good.

Called customer service and explained the problem with not receiving calls etc. She did her checks on the system and told me it was a Samsung issue and even if she replaced my Fascinate, I would end up with the same trouble. She offered me a replacement of Droid X2, Intredible 2 or Charge. I am getting the Droid X2 to try. Just give the customer service by phone a try. She was very honest and helpful. Hopefully this will work better and no more missed calls. They are even overnighting the phone to me. I will post when it arrives and let you know how it works. Hang in there guys!!!

Thanks for the update! I'm still holding out on a software update soon since it seems like 99% of the people on this board had trouble switching out their phone. Last I heard the fix had been developed and tested on June 30th. Here's hoping it gets pushed to the phones by the end of the month at the latest.

I DID NOT want to give up my Fascinate, I love it so much, but I spoke with someone in the executive offices yesterday who informed me the update was not coming any time soon and I can't afford to miss calls. In fact, their first call to me yesterday was missed by the phone. Forty five minutes later they called again and the phone rang. I didn't notice I missed the first call until I saw the message icon at the top of the phone after I had hung up with them. There was no record of the missed call on the phone. I need to get my phone calls :-( So, I chose the Droid X2.

Battery Life -- I would Compair it to Eclair Phone has been On 5 hr and I still have 96%

Freezeing up -- None

Seems real Stable and Smooth

My wife and I have the fascinate and are having the same issues as everyone else. Missed calls, messages, emails, freeze up, and horrible battery life since the 2.2 / ED04 update. Sent one phone back to Samsung before I knew everyone else was having the same problem. Samsung updated the phone software and said everything checked out fine. Got it back and still having the same problems.

Sent it in 6 times the last time I had them put 2.1 Eclair on it and it worked good

I ended up being able to return my Fascinate and switch to the Droid X2 which I love. Check out the other "so we can get a count" posts and you'll see how you may also be able to switch to either the X2, the Charge or the Incredible 2. Best wishes!

There is a catch on the exchanges though. You must have purchased it directly from Verizon or a authorized reseller. Any purchases from a friend, ebay, etc. does not transfer the warranty.

So if you're like me and got it on eBay and got the forced update from VZ/Samsung...you are screwed. I've been complaining to VZ about it trying to get them to budge, and they will not....

Yea, my wife and I love the look of the Fascinate and we loved the screen and fast processor....but we have way to many issues, missing calls, texts and IM's on it, freezes and force closes. I hope that we can get it swapped out for Charges as well.

This information is hot off the press. Beginning today, July 28,2011 there is another update that you will receive for the Fascinate.

From the main menu on your device, go to Settings>About Phone>System Updates>Check New

Symptoms Resolved:

A software change was made to address an issue causing the device to miss calls in some cases
Addressed an issue which is causing multiple recipients SMS messages from being sent out immediately. In some cases the message will sit in the pending state but will eventually going through
Addressed an issue causing SMS reply messages to go to an incorrect recipient in some cases
Addressed an issue where the device would only connect to a factory Bluetooth car kit about 25% of the time
A software change was made to add a pop up message which displayed when selecting the option to turn off data from the drop down menu. The Message says "You will no longer be able to use data applications such as Browser, email and You Tube via mobile network. Calls and text messages will continue to function"

I started getting missed phone calls AFTER receiving my 2nd phone, restoring all the back up, and then having customer service have me UPDATE my phone to the EDO5. I do not think ED05 is the entire fix for all the issues being discussed. My battery won't last half a day and I have my screen lock set to 15 seconds and my display to the lowest it will go. Wish I would have read forum before I just ordered a new battery as an extra.

Having same problem with new hotshot. Also seems to power down at random. Phone doesn't ring until after voicemail gets it, then get missed call. Every time. My wife and I have tested it many times. Shows no updates. Sounds like returning it does no good. Thanks

I just got my first 4GL phone, the Samsung Gallery III, and I keep having people telling me they tried to call me when I had my phone right with me. No ringing, no notification of a missed call. Getting bumbed out that I got this phone, or that I went to 4GL. Seems alot of ppl are having this problem, it's all over the web. And it seems there is no solution. Bummer!

Here's another for your count! Actually 2 for your count. My husband and I have been having the same problem for almost a month! Used as a business phone also so it is affecting my relations with my clients. We both have a HTC Rezound and I am heading over to the Verizon store this afternoon - see if any of there "guru's there know anything.
