I am going through 2 batteries a day now before it was 1 a day. Not sure what they did but if you are having the issue post here.
Same here
I am having a big problem with the battery draining too fast.
Serious battery life issue is making my phone almost useless for me. Also since the update, aplications are VERY slow, the camera freezes when I delete photos, the number pad dissapears when I am trying to check messages (sorry voice mail lady, I just can't enter my password if I can't SEE the numbers!), Callers are telling me I have wierd music instead of a ring (UNACCEPTABLE FOR MY BUSINESS PHONE), I miss almost all of my calls now because they go immediately to the elevator music and voice mail. The list goes on. Pre update I loved my phone. Now it is garbage.
When I go to the task manager, RAM manager and clear memory to try and get things to run better I get a message saying 13 applications closed. Things run faster for about 2 minutes and then tank again. No idea what is running other than the usual 4 or 5 background applications that I expect.
As I am typing this I can watch my battery drain. What's up Verizon? You took a good thing and ruined it.
Message to the frustrated person who got no love from the Verizon stores, I intentionally waited a couple of weeks to research this issue because I expected to get the exact reaction you did. I wanted to make sure enough people had complained that Verizon might listen and you are extreamly lucky if you get a knowledgable person in the Verizon stores.
I've been having battery issues since the beginning. But more so recently with this update. I'm plugging in by noon each day and I don't use it as often as some people. I check my email/facebook and make phone calls, but not enough to need to put it on the charger by noon. I'm also having issues with vibrating strength. I can have it in my pocket and not feel it. I've read on other posts this being an issue too. It's horrible! I'm on my refurbished phone after having a number of issues on my original. I've had this for less than a month.

As mcneilly510 suggested, a master reset is a great option to correct this issue.
Go to the Menu>Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything.
Please ensure the contacts/SMS/memos are backed up in Google, SD card or Backup Assistant before the reset. The SD card will not be erased during reset.
Add me to this list! I too am having this problem. It is AWFUL!!!! And the phone freezes A LOT!!! It was a cool phone and now it is just a dead piece of crap! I'm so upset.. been waiting for 2.2 (umm.. the latest is Gingerbread already!!) for almost a year and when I install it.. it turns my phone into an useless piece of plastic. PLEASE FIX THIS!! I used to only use 30% battery in 12 hrs. Now I go through about 100% in 6!! this is ridiculous!! I didn't change my usage habits or added more apps. And why are all the **bleep** apps keep auto-starting themselves?! I keep killing them!! FIX THIS PLEASE!!! And don't tell me to do a hard reset or turn features/services off.. that's not an acceptable solution!! It is a cop-out!
I have to charge 2-3 times in a 16 hour day with little use. Couple text messages and looking at Facebook
Hiya!
I'm new here and just updated my phone. I have two batteries. One is the original and the other is an extended battery which I have had for the past 4 days.
the extended batter has been showing a life span of 16-28 hours after an overnight charge. This morning it had a full charge. Now after a few hours of using the original battery (which is now depleted), I installed the extended battery which is now reading eight hours. this is both before and after the new update.
Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be or how to fix the extended battery issue? I'm going to try letting it run down completely and recharge it tonight to see what happens.
Add me to the list!!!!!
worst battery life. the skype and mediahub apps always turn on and just drains all the battery. on top of that, i have realized that when my battery is low, i stop receiving text messages and calls to my phone. i tested this out several times where i would be with my friends, and i'll watch them text/call me when my battery is at 33%...yup, NO calls/texts received, 3G 4 bars too!!
update is garbage!!!!!!!!!! do something about it verizon.
Ay! Yes, definite battery issues. I use my phone a lot and now it is "red" within two hours. It uses battery power like crazy, even with the "mobile data" deactivated. It reset my entire phone basically so I lost all my home pages and have missing holes of forgetten shortcuts, so frustrating!
Plus, if you want to use any app involving the internet, you have to have 'mobile data' activated, which is definetly and extra frustrating step and runs down your freaking battery like crazy! If you don't fix this verizon I'm switching to AT&T - way too many issues with Verizon.
I can't go anywhere lately (ahem, after the 2 latest updates) without my charger in hand and my mobile charger. However, there are times when I just can't stop my life to charge my battery, it's summer, I'm frequently outside (distance bike riding) for long periods of time, etc. That Verizon seems to be ignoring this HUGE PROBLEM is very distressing. Come on Verizon, address this situation.
Count me in!
Everyone,
We are aware of this issue and understand it is frustrating. Our product team is currently working with Samsung investigating this battery issue. As soon as we have a resolution we will make sure to communicate that to all of you.
i'm having terrible problems too, so pls inform when solution is available. battery lasts 4 hours max now. really unusable to me with this issue.
Part of the problem is that Skype mobile and Media Hub constantly run in the back ground. Even if you kill them they come right back on and you can't get them to stop running. This constantly sucks battery power. This happens even if you don't have a Skype account. I don't use Skype and I don't have a Skype account but the Program runs all the time on my Fascinate. I know that this has to be part of the extra drain on the battery. My question is "WHY"? Why run programs in that the user never uses. This makes no sense at all. What is the reason for running programs in the back ground that the owner of the phone doesn't start or use? Please make this part of the fix!
We're missing half our incoming calls, our batteries drain in 4 to 6 hours, we've done repeated factory resets and battery pulls to no avail, and Verizon has been aware of these issues for over a month. What's wrong with this picture? Is there anything in our contract that guarantees a phone that works?

most background services do not use battery
go to settings>about phone>battery use to see whats using your battery
or get an app like android system info
Include me.. since update to 2.2 battery life is a joke
I had the update and Saturday and battery life has been horrendous since. I see that the thread says it is solved but when I click on "Go To Solution" it just goes to a long post about how rude Verizon was in someone reporting the problem - definitely NOT a solution.
Why does it say this issue has been resolved? I've been waiting a month for a resolution.
Put me on the list. My battery doesn't last 6 hrs & my phone is hardly used all day. I always use task manager after I'm finished texting or browsing. This phone has to be the worst phone ever made.
Ditto...battery life is the pits since the Froyo upgrade. Wonder if the latest update will do anything for the battery?
THIS IS BULL CRAP!!!!!!!! We all haave cell phones to use them WHEN EVER & WHERE EVER we want. We HAVE to pay the EXTRA FEES so we can get the most out of our phones, but can we?????? NO, WE HAVE TO TURN EVERYTHING OFF TO SAVE OUR BATTERY LIFE!!! Does it pay to have the insurance?? Will insurance pay for a battery?? I pay the extra to be able to surf the web. Now I have to use the basic phone, also purchased more car chargers. Something need to be done sooner than later, please.
Yes, my battery is losey now and just realized it was after the update too! Can we go back to the old OS before this update? No problems then!
I'm having the same battery issues. It dies after about 3-5 hours after unplugging from the charger. Display says it's using 84%, and I have it on the lowest backlight setting.
I am having the same issue, my battery used to last all day and evening! Now it only lasts half a day, and I am not using the phone any differently. I need this to get fixed, because it's taking the joy out my phone!
@bluestar
Can you please PM me your contact information and your mobile number so I can take a look into for you and see what we've done since you made us aware of this one month ago?
I'd like to help in getting this resolved.
Thank you!
I'm having the same problem. Had nothing but kudos for the phone before this, but now it's just a digital paperweight. I didn't install Froyo 2.2 until four days ago, but it's obvious from this stream of blogs that Verizon knew about the problem almost two months ago. Why didn't it stop the updates once it knew it had a problem? Putting an improperly tested OS upgrade out: strike one. Not taking decisive action to limit the damage after identifying a problem with the upgrade: strike two.
Count me in!!!! I only get a couple hours out of mine since the update! and I have went in and turned off all running programs & everything I can do to save battery life! SOOOOO frustrating!
Having the same problem, more than half of incoming calls never ring or register in my call log, but I check my phone to find several new voicemail messages. Battery, with no calls, no texts, and mobile data turned off = about 6 hours
since the update,i can go from having a full bar, then halfa bar to practically none in the span of a few hours,i think it,the battery, etc, has a mind of its own, other days it appears to remain good others i can be on my phone or txt or w/e and whap, the battery is gone......
rothbling82 wrote:Talked to Lucas at tech support today who stated "Gingerbread is coming to the fascinate". Further, he stated that i should go on he internet and download gingerbread and install it on my fascinate to improve my battery life.
If Gingerbread is released by VZW it will be OTA. There is only one way to download it right now and it is not supported by VZW.
I am almost a wits end regarding my fascinate. I loved it when i got it over a month ago. I just want verizon to fix the no receive calls and no texts, low battery life. This is minor but the ring is very not very loud.. Gives us a fix that will work, or lets us have another phone at a extreme low price. Please do something before I hate this phone worse..Verizon makes us proud to be part of your network. There is alot of us fascinate owners who do not like the phone or verizon. Enough said
This might be a solution for them have the customer void there warranty so they don't have to fix it
I was advised to update to 2.2 because my calendars would not sync properly. Now I barely get 6 hours battery life and cannot send/receive pic texts. Sound familiar?
I'm very apprehensive about doing a factory rest because I'd already done one on our other Fascinate (before the 2.2 update) and lost ALL contact info. Evidently, the Backup Assistant ran immediately after the reset so all it did was "back up" the recently reset contacts which was NOTHING! Why does this have to be so difficult?
Since the last upgrade, battery life is very low, not even eight hours, and I don't even use the phone that much. Before the missed calls issue and the lack of battery life, I liked my Samsung Fascinate. Now, it's quite inconvenient especially since I travel for work. I'm always thinking about how much charge remaings. Very annoying.
We are looking into this issue heavily, and will post any updates we can once we hear back from our product development team. In the meantime, please look through the postings by our fellow community members and follow the battery-saving tips.
We appreciate your patience
Add me to the long list of unhappy Fascinate users.
Before that last update my Fascinate held a charge for at least a full day if not 2 without ever getting into the 'orange' zone. Now, my phone doesn't even make it until lunch time without going into the danger zone and it is sitting on my desk not being used at all and all Apps are off as well as WI-FI, Blue tooth, GPS, you name it!
I'm seriously mad! I even did the whole factory reset which seems to eek out about 1 extra hour of battery life but I had to reinstall all of my apps and redo all the log-ins and passwords. That took a LONG time and I'm not getting any better service out of my phone.
Verizon, you better get this figured out quickly!
I am having a battery life issue as well as a camera problem.
My phone now lasts about 6 hours - I might as well have a landline as I have to keep it hooked to the charger. I did the factory reset which was no help and lots of trouble with reloading everything. Fix this soon or give us new phones!
Add my phone to the list of power problems. The battery is going out at about twice the original rate..Terrible upgrade.
I have noticed the battery getting very warm after a long conversation or using GPS navagation.

Everyone! Call into ADVANCED TECH SUPPORT. I spoke to a guy the other day that said they are very UNAWARE of this issue on a large scale. They sent me a new Fascinate. SAME ISSUE! Im calling Samsung next and demanding a new phone.

I called in today because now in addition to dismal battery life, the new "screen shot" feature has stopped working. The woman i spoked to said we could do a factory reset, and then if that didn't work, they would replace the device. I explained to her that I had already gotten one replacement since the update, and have done a factory reset 3 times and am tired of doing this. I told her that it is ridiculous that this update has caused me to have terrible battery life and missed phone calls and text messages also. She said that they just received a memo within the last couple days that missed calls is a known issue, and because of this, they are replacing with a DIFFERENT device if the customer wants (she didn't say whether it was new or refurbished, I am assuming refurbished). The choices were the HTC Droid Incredible 2 or the Motorola Droid X2. I haven't made my decision yet, so if anyone has any insight into these two phones, I welcome it. Hope this helps those of you that are also having a problem with missing calls.
This has gone way beyond bad customer service. My wife's fasinate is basically worthless. Went to a Verizon store the other day and explained phone with light usage lasts about 4 hours. My wife has to turn off gps, network sync, bluetooth to make it 8 hours. The reps response was all smart phones are like this. Really???? Why treat the customer like we are stupid. I turned around and walked out steaming. Good thing I wasn't told to do a factory reset again.
Why can't Verizon just be up front with us. Offer a replacement phone rather that us having to jump through hoops. Let us know what's going on. Maybe Verizon needs to hold Samsung's feet to the fire.
Still Frustrated WAITING for a FIX VERIZON!!! Can you hear me now!!!!!!!!

I wish I could rollback, my battery life is drained since the 2.2. update, my phone freezes at least 1x a day and I've missed my first business call today since the phone froze mid-ring. I am fed up with this and wish that Verizon would acknowledge this to users by rolling back. I used to LOVE it, but now I'm severely disappointed.
