I am going through 2 batteries a day now before it was 1 a day. Not sure what they did but if you are having the issue post here.

my battery life is much worse since the update
I only updated yesterday morning but include me for the moment. It may change and get better, who knows. Since the update the biggest use is the display (66%) when it use to be standby. I stopped using the animated display and now just have a pic. I wonder what it is about the display that changed?
micp879 wrote:Mine was much shorter the first day or two after the update, but after a few charging cycles its now pretty much back to normal.
Count me in! Charging at least twice per day. Before 2.2 was charging every 24+ hours. All of a sudden the screen seems to be using a ton of battery life, but using same exact settings as before. Phone stand-by battery usage has also increased. Lots of other bugs since the update. Waited so long for 2.2....(sigh)
Same here - upgraded my Fascinate to 2.2 and now my battery life is at most 6 hours if I am not using it!
We have been receiving numerous complaints about the battery life after the Froyo 2.2 update. We are looking into this issue heavily, and will post any updates we can once we hear back from our product development team. In the meantime, please look through the postings by our fellow community members and follow the battery-saving tips.
Thank you for your patience regarding this matter.
FINALLY SOME ONE WHO IS ACKNOWLEDGING THE PROBLEM!!!!
Before the 2.2 update i could go one and a half to two days without charging my phone. Now I'm lucky to get eight hours out of it!! My phone is completely dead halfway through the afternoon, and thats just from being in my pocket during work and not even being used!!
I updated on Thursday night and immediately noticed the difference. I called into Verizon on Sunday afternoon and the woman acted like I was crazy and making it all up. She was very condescending and told me that I was lucky to have gotten so much out of my battery before, because the average smartphone only lasts 6 hours on a charge. I explained to her that I don't even use my phone all that much. Mostly just for texting and E-mail. She stuck to her answer that the phone should only be lasting 6 hours and said they have had no other complaints about this.
I was not at all satisfied with that answer so I went into the Verizon store that evening and the manager did a factory reset, and said hopefully it would solve the problem.
It did not make the battery life any better, and somehow managed to cause the vibrate function on my phone to not work at all. So Monday night I called back and had my boyfriend speak to them because I was so fed up with getting the run-around. The man that he spoke to also said that the battery on a smartphone lasting more than six hours is unheard of. He also said that they had not had any other complaints about this problem. He suggested that I leave my phone on "airplane mode" to get more battery life out of it. What good is a phone on airplane mode?!?! I might as well get an iPod touch and save myself $85 a month!!! And do they really expect me to believe the majority of people are charging their phones two and three times a day??
I just don't understand how they think it's OK to say "that's just how it is" and expect us as customers to be alright with it.
I sure hope they really are working on it, because a phone with a six hour battery life is unacceptable.
My phone is updating as we speak! Wish I read this before I did it. Hopefully I won't have the same experience.
I got the update and since then, my battery does not last more then 6 hours and I do not use my phone at all during the day. I have found that something called sensorserver_ya is using 30% of my battery. It seems this is happening to a lot of people yet there doesnt' seem to be a way to stop it from running. Hopefully someone will figure it out so I can go thru the day without my phone dying
Since my Samsung Fascinate updated to Froyo 2.2, my battery life has been terrible!!! I make sure that I close all programs each time I exit, through the Task Manager on the phone. Since the update I will lose a minimum of 50% of my battery life in an 8 hour period. My phone will be fully charged when I go to bed and be in stand by mode the whole night. When I wake up 6-8 hours later, my battery life is down to less than 40%. This is ridicules!!!

I'm having the same issue as well! I hope this is fixed soon!!!!
Yup....drains very rapidly.
same here!
Mine seems to last a short time only now , was better before
Mine & my wife's battery life has diminished by 50% from 2.1...not going to do a factory reset...I close all apps with Task Manager each time and shut the phone off at night while I'm charging. Hope Verizon can figure something out.
I am having battery issues as well. Before 2.2 I could go all day and charge overnight. This morning I only got about 5-6 hours, much of that time in standby. I have attempted the following to address the battery issue (none have worked):
Screen Brightness on lowest setting
Wifi off
GPS off
Drained battery > removed/reinstalled battery > fully recharged before turning back on
Multiple "battery saving" apps
Glad to see that Verizon is looking into the issue. I hope to see some results soon, with battery life like I've experienced post 2.2 the phone is almost unusable.
mine barely last through a work day and i dont use it that much at all cuple of calls 5-6 text messages mostly sits there on my desk
i take my phone off charger at 730 am its orange by 530 pm
My battery life is cut in half. If use any apps....sucks the life right out : ((
My battery life is much worse after the 2.2 update. I changed some of the display settings, it is slightly better, but unacceptable compared to before.
I had what I thought was a battery issue after upgrading to 2.2. However, after a few days - I realized I had two different Facebook syncs and Hotmail sync enabled every one hour. I removed all syncs except Gmail and FB. Now, I get very good battery life. I have the habit of fully charging the phone every night but there were a few cases when I forgot and I could manage the second day without charge with light use
Like most of you my phone battery drains lot faster after the froyo update. This is really unacceptable. Hope Verizon fixes it soon. The vibrate intensity is low too.
+1 Less than 12 hours with almost no use and everything I could think of turned off or minimized.
Factory settings before with little to moderate use 2 days
For the first few weeks after I upgraded to Froyo (factory reset), I had dismal battery life. I tried all standard options (turn down brightness, turn off wifi, bt, gps, disable animations, remove live wallpaper, etc) but to no avail.
I then went to my account sync section and noticed that Hotmail was set to sync very frequently. There were two Facebook Syncs too (one FB account was for the widget that came with Fascinate and the other was for the Facebook app downloaded from Marketplace). After disabling autosync for all but my gmail and marketplace fb, I noticed that my battery life improved drastically (even better than 2.1). I also heard that 2.2 takes a week or so to learn about the system and improve battery life. Whatver the case, my phones battery life is phenomenal now. My current usage pattern is as follows
At the end of the day (after 15 hours without charge), I still have about 75% charge left! I could not believe it initially but after seeing this consistenly for a week or so now, I am truly amazed. My only gripe now with Fascinate is lack of front facing camera!
Hello fellow community members,
I would like to provide some causes for the battery issues and some solutions. They are notated as such below.
Issues affecting a battery's charge
· Signal strength and coverage.
· Switching between 3G/4G and 1X
· Switching between Verizon Wireless and Extended Network
· Roaming
· Battery age.
· Verizon Wireless recommends replacing the battery with a new manufacturer approved battery once per year
· Lack of use.
· Non-voice services usage.
· V CAST Video or other video services (Youtube, etc)
· playing music
· VZ Navigator
· Push To Talk
· internet access
· Media Center (Get It Now)
· Messaging (TXT / PIX / FLIX / Mobile IM / Email)
· Bluetooth and/or wi-fi
· applications running in the background
Tips to help improve battery life
· Keep wifi/gps/bluetooth off when not needed.
· Keep your brightness settings at auto (at least) if not a lower setting.
· Avoid using Live Wallpaper’s as these use more battery life. (Use darker backgrounds as these require less use of the screen.)
· Avoid apps that tend to require using a lot of data connection (or keep them off when not needed.)
· Reduce the sync intervals on your accounts (i.e. Google, Facebook etc.)
As always, you can check you settings on your phone. Go to Settings > about phone > Battery Use. This will give you a break down of where you are using the most power. From there you can decide what to adjust. As always, you can get additional assistance for your individual device at www.verizonwireless.com/support.
Hope this helps…
I upgraded to froyo yesterday. This morning at 8a, I put a fully charged battery into my phone this morning and now, 4:39p my time my battery is almost spent. I got better battery use out of my thunderbolt. Sure hope this issue gets resolved soon.
I cannot believe how fast the battery depletes with 2.2. I actually went and bought a second wall charger to keep at work for
that mid afternoon charge that is now needed.

It really doesn't help because the thrust of this thread is that we have all been getting much better battery life with the same device. The only thing that has changed is the software update that included froyo. Can anyone explain why I get less battery life out of my Fascinate after the s/w update than I got out of my thunderbolt?
The thunderbolt is a 4g device with a bigger screen (and a bigger battery) that is reputed to get really bad battery life, Yet the Fascinate is now exhibiting less battery life. I am only getting 8-10 hrs of battery life and I'm not a heavy user. Formerly I would get a day and a half out of a single battery. The Thunderbolt would give me just shy of 24 hrs on a single charge. While your post gave us some good information, it seems to offer a minimally ineffective work-around... far from resolution.
I'll also Jump onto the list...after the update I have MUCH less battery life and also have the Display using up about 71% and have no idea why...have phone in lowest setting for brightness, wifi off, GPS off, and background data off also... Would love to have a fix for this stuff soon
My battery life was miserable with 2.1 before the Froyo update and I've noticed no change for the worse with Froyo.
I've never been able to go a full day without a battery swap, but then all my communications are run thru the phone (voice, email & txt) + web access. So, I'm not surprised. I plug in whenever possible yet have 1 extra regular battery and 1 XL for backup. One is always on the charger stand and a reserve in my briefcase.
Heed the above tips.
I would also suggest doing a "battery bump".
I broke down and did the factory data reset after the Froyo update, and also did the battery bump. Only loosing about 9% of battery overnight, roughly 12hrs since last charge.
Phone signal strength is a battery killer also. If you are getting a weak to no signal, switch to airplane mode if you can.
Ed sends
I unchecked "Auto-rotate screen" in the display settings and have not seen sensorserver_ya reappear in my battery use page. I have not yet missed the auto-rotate feature, and have yet to see what kind of improvement, if any, there is from changing this option.
Please, let me be added to your count, which must be up there!! This problem is unbelievable!! Funny how customer service says 6 hours is "unheard of." When you read the reviews online, they boast all about how long the battery lasts on this phone!! I used to just plug in late at night, wake up and go. Now i'm lucky if my phone lasts a few hours!!!
Of course, when I called customer service, they were "shocked" and had "no idea" there were issues about this and that it wasn't a one-time fluke! My response was, "Have you read the forum on YOUR website??!!!" I don't like liars. The issue is well known.
Count me in.
Yes I'm having the same issue and I use my phone very little - Within 19 hours my battery is down to 48% and I had 3 text messages and 1 phone call lasting 7 seconds. My battery life use to be 2 1/2 days and that's with more talk time. My husband has the same phone and he has the same problem, this is outrageous.
My wife is having the same problem. Great Battery life with 2.1 and now lucky to get through the day with 2.2. She uses this for her business and IS NOT happy about this. I hope there is an update soon or it won't be pretty!
Last week I heard 2.2 was available and decided to come here and read reviews before updating. I'm sure glad I did. It looks like tons are having battery issues. My mother has the same phone and told me the same day she is having battery issues all of a sudden. I asked if she had updated to 2.2, and sure enough she did. So count at least one more.
I'm perfectly happy with 2.1 for now. Sure, the upgrade would be nice but it looks like Samsung and Verizon rushed it out there (even though it took forever), without doing basic real world testing. The right way to do this would've been to select a few hundred or so customers for the update and get feedback after a month. Now they've got an even bigger problem on their hands than when everyone was beating their doors down for the update.
I too called and reported the problem to Verizon, and was told I was the only one who has reported having an issue with shortened battery life. Come on! Anyway, Verizon’s fix was to send me an extended battery (which is GINORMOUS by the way). It does help but now I'm torn as to was my battery just wasted, or is this enormous new battery just so much better than the standard that the draining effects don’t show on it?
The thing that gets me is, I was soooooo happy with my phone before. I would rave and recommend it to anyone looking for a new phone. It was awesome! And now that Verizon has the latest and greatest coming out it seems like they have deliberately sabotaged this phone into a worthless brick I tote around in my purse. One thing is for sure I will be upgrading my phone as soon as possible now. Just like they wanted me to do…
Gad2103 wrote:We need to all figure out what we can do. We were all lied to when we bought this phone -- froyo update "any day now" six months ago. Obviously verizon employees were instructed to say that so they could turn even more of a profit off of a defective product. I was considering waiting for the iphone but was dumb enough to trust the salesperson (imagine that John Lennon, a business telling the truth! Add that to a verse in your song.)
I hope you've got your colander on. They're all out to get you.
Seriously, I initially had awful battery life with the Froyo upgrade. The next several days I swear I saw an improvement, but this week (at least) my battery life has been horrible. HORRIBLE. In the first two hours I had my phone unplugged this morning, I downloaded an app, read two texts, responded to one, played my Words With Friends game (one round on each of about ten games) and put the phone down. I lost 30%+ in those two hours.
I've adjusted my settings (quick timeout, no auto-adjust brightness and it's turned down to under 10%, Wifi always off unless I'm actively using it, etc...) and it's still just draining like it's its job.
I'm experiencing the battery drain issue as well. Charge lasts about 6 hours, a decline of at least 75% since updating to Froyo. Not very hopeful that we'll see a fix anytime soon.
At the end of my typical day with 2.1, I would have on average 70% left on my battery. With 2.2 I have on average 50% left at the end of a typical day. So yes; the update had a negative effect on my battery life.
Ugh, I went from around 10-12 hours of battery life, including frequent texting, emailing, web browsing, and game playing to 5 hours when it's doing absolutely NOTHING!!! I turn the data transfer off, which helps, til I turn it on! **bleep**. But I don't think that I should even have to turn off the data transfer...otherwise, why bother to get a smart phone? I'm **bleep**. I'm planning on going to the vzn store but I'm sure they won't do anything. And I'm stuck in a 2 year contract soooo it's not really worth threatening to switch to att-they'll know i'm bluffing!
Count Me In. About 6 Hours Of Battery Life, Using It Maybe 30 Min Of The Whole Day
Updated to 2.2 a week ago. Everything except the battery life is good. My batterlife is about half of what it was. I can charge frequently during the day but I wish I didn't have to.
Very dissapointed in the battery life difference since the update. I was really excited at first .. Now my battery drains in no time and my phone freezes up alot. What is the deal?
Having the same problem as everyone else. I use the phone heavily for work and will charge at lease once during the day or battery is dead by 2:00. I will sometimes need to charge a second time in the evening.
I guess that is trying to be helpful, but in what way does that answer qualify as "solving" this problem? I was pretty happy to see that this problem was "solved"; instead after wading through this and 11 pages of nonsense, I see that Verizon still has not managed to fix the issue.
So count me in as one more with this issue.
I have also been having other problems, companionlink now not syncing. Not always getting my calls.
I am having terrible battery issues. I took by the store and he showed me how to automatically kill all running apps and that still doesn't help. I have to carry an extra battery with me - and sometimes recharge a third time. This is crazy
BTW wrote: I am having terrible battery issues. I took by the store and he showed me how to automatically kill all running apps and that still doesn't help. I have to carry an extra battery with me - and sometimes recharge a third time. This is crazy
How do you adjust sync frequency or no for various accounts
I am going through 2 batteries per day also. I called Verizon today and they are sending me a new battery. We'll see if it works!
This didn't start happening though until I did the 2.2 update. But apparently this is the first step we have to take.
my battery used to go 2 days without charging now since the updates it last less than 4 hrs, the display is using 77% never had that before, alway kill all the apps and running programs.
MY BATTERY LIFE IS AWFUL I AM CONSTANTLY CHARGING MY PHONE....
My wife and I both have Fascinates and ever since the update to 2.2 we both have to charge my phone during the day even if we don't use them. I went on a 3 hour bike ride one morning after having the phone charging all night long. When I was done with my bike ride the battery indicator was in the red after not having even touched it. That's just ridiculous.
Hey Verizon - you might want to update your battery standy time on the Fascinate page by removing the "1" and the "2" from "312
" hours to make it just "3".
Battery
Since the latest update, I, too, continue to have battery life issues. Never had a problem before this. Also, never had a problem with dropped calls - recently several calls dropped. Has AT&T taken over Verizon? I am very hesitant to do a hard reset. Is there another update scheduled?
When I first put on the 2.2 update, my battery life went downhill.
By putting the wifi sleep policy to 'when screen turns off' and
using a less hungry LWP it has gone back to "normal".
YMMV
And by the way I still get all my calls, so I must be doing something wrong.
Update number 3 from Tduke100:
After my visit to the store and implementing their suggestions, my battery life was no better. I called my Verizon rep (we are like BFFs by now) and Verizon sent yet another phone. Or rather, a phone "front." This exercise involves removing the back cover, battery and SD card from my phone and installing them on the "new" phone front. The purpose of the exercise was so I could "defer" the 2.2 update. Well, guess what? The phone came with 2.2 (a/k/a ED04) ALREADY INSTALLED!!! So needless to say, I will be calling my rep again on Tuesday to see what the next step is. I was offered a different phone, any phone of my choosing, but I LIKE my Samsung Fascinate (at least I did before the update) and would be very happy if I could keep the Fascinate with the previous software version. Stay tuned. Once my situation is resolved I will post all the details here, including the name of my rep, who seems to be trying his best to make sure I am a happy customer.

Seriously? Any phone of your choosing? Including the iPhone or Droid Charge? This sounds like an offer you can't/shouldn't refuse. Can't wait to learn the name of your rep who seems exceptional (and may soon be inundated by calls from customers seeking the same good deal).
Ahh... yesterday I left home with a full charge, texted one person, checked facebook and twitter once, checked my email once - replied to one email and that's when my battery died. This all happened within a four hour period. Ridiculous. I'm pretty much feeling like my phone is useless at this point. I may just start carrying around my iPad. I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER.
I have an LG Cosmos, not the Droid or Smart phones like I am seeing here. However, I am having battery life issues too. Started a little more than a week ago. Talked with customer service on Dec 23rd. They said my battery is under warranty, however, there are no batteries for my phone in stock right now. Suggested that I take it back to the Corporate store in Lady Lake, FL where I purchased my phone. So I did and they ran a "test" on the phone telling me it would take 2 hours to complete. I came back in 2 hours to get the phone and was told that the battery was fine. And that I should charge it every night. Well I do charge it every night mainly because I don't have a landline so my phone is used heavily with text, calls, and picture messages. So here it is one week later and I've been charging my phone twice a day since the test was done at the corporate store. It is very frustrating to have to continue to deal with this garbage. So add me to your count.
