Today I was told that when do a backup to the VZW Cloud, the apps are backed up too. Is that true, and if it is, why aren't the apps listed as types of files that are backed up?
No apps are not backed up. There are legal issues as well a Android DRM issues. Google's own backup doesn't do this.
Thanks. A VZW customer service rep told me this and I doubted it was true. I questioned her and she insisted that apps were backed up too.

It does depending on the developer backup app data, but not the application itself.
