Are we supposed to just live with the dropped calls?

So I'm basically going to be held hostage to owning probably a really crappy phone.  This is my second S3.  The first one just suddenly stopped holding a charge.  My visit to the Verizon store (twice) ended up with my having the battery replaced and my purchasing a Mofi. The day after purchasing the Mofi, the phone still lost charge dramatically. Solution: Got a refurbished phone.

Refurbished phone holds charge wonderfully, but now I can't even have a real conversation with anyone without the phone dropping calls after like 2 minutes.  It's so embarrassing.  I work from home and I can't even do conference calls with this horrible phone. I feel like I'm being held hostage to this horrible horrible phone and no one at Verizon even gives a crap.

Is there a way you could add a landline for your business calls?

As for the dropped calls, I was told by a VZW rep to dial *** (three stars) and press send after each dropped call. It sets a marker in your account for the VZW techs to look at the call just before to see if there is a pattern. Once you have three or more of those "markers",  you can call customer service and get a trouble ticket started with them and they will be able to see where to look.

Depending on the results, they might suggest a network extender. This device is supposed to help improve the call signal inside the building by creating a mini-cell tower. Sometimes the signal outdoors is fine, but the building materials and trees and hills reduce the signal to unusable indoors.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I think there are two things you can try.  Depending on the 4g service in your area, you can disable 4g and leave it to be on 3g all the time.  Do this by going to Settings, Mobile Networks, Network Mode, and select the preferred network CDMA/EvDo.  to put it back on 4g you'd choose LTE/CDMA/EvDo.

You can also try an app calle "Phone Info" (make sure it's this exact one)..  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=myc.phone.PhoneInfo

This is another tool that allows you select the network as well (if you have trouble with the stock/built in method).  CDMA = 3g, LTE/CDMA auto = 4g.   This may even help your battery life as well.  I live in an area with poor 4g, so I keep it on 3g (saves the phone from constantly searching for signal).  I work up north with great 4G so I flip it back while there.

Please let me know if this helps.   If not, I have other ideas (you can PM).
