I do not understand why I have to sign up for a DATA plan if I do not want it. We have 2 Fascinate phones but have to sign up for a DATA plan on both phones. WHY?

My wife uses DATA, but I do not need it. The phone was 1 free at that time when you buy the other. We also do not have cell service when at home yet. Only when travelling. The Smartphone is obviously not that Smart. Just another way to make money I guess.

Why get a smartphone if you don't want to pay for data?
And be glad you have a data plan.
It helps avoid those $$$$ bills.

Because Verizon changed their rules (because they control the rules) so that you could not simply use WiFi for free data access when Verizon can require that you pay for an additional $360 annual data fee.

I'm averaging over 1GB a month and I consider my usage to be moderate. I ignore the phone for hours on end.

What made you go with the Fascinate?
The phone's technology is state of the art and the display is as good as it gets. I was looking at the Droid X as well but the Fascinate's slightly smaller size and smoother profile was a plus (I carry the phone in the front pocket of my jeans).

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
