Battery Issue after update?

My battery seems to drain down very quick now, I have an app that shows battery % and in just a little checking out websites suck as Facebook it can drop to 75% in less than an hour and down to 25% in 4 hours. I use task manager and stop programs after using so nothing is running and GPS is off and WIFI off too. This seems pretty bad that battery can drain completely in 6-1/2 hours like it did yesterday and di not do any calling or texting just checked Facebook and emails.
I'm not blaming the update as I thought it was bad before but now it does seem worse always charging back up before I go somewhere. My friend has IPhone and does same as I and only charges up at night. Any Ideas?

Mine seems to be draining faster than normal as well. I do however leave GPS all of the time but I did before the update too. I normally charge once a day since the update I charge at least 1.5 to two times a day.

I agree. I have 3 Fascinates and the battery just does not seem to last as long post DL09.
All three:
GPS off, Wifi off, Bluetooth off, All syncs set to manual,
Wallpaper set to solid black. ( super amoled uses no power to display black. )
No games, no market apps running.
Used to get 2 days out of them this way easy.. ( phone calls, lots of texting, some web viewing. )
Now only seem to get about 1 day.
Must be something 'new' running in backgroud maybe ??? If so, how do we find it and turn it off.

Sorry about the issue you're having with the battery life on you phone. When you charge your phone do you have it powered off? Charging the phone with it being powered off holds the life of the battery longer.

I took phone off charger this morning and it sat hour and a half with one 9 minute call and it dropped to 87 percent. I have a gauge that shows the percent left which is nice and that seems bad that battery is dropping so soon. Mine lasts half a day and have to charge again no good

What I recommend you do is charge the device to full power. Once it reaches this point, power the device off. You will then need to remove the battery and let the device sit for 15 seconds. Then, replace the battery and you power issue should be resolved.

the update enables the touch panel backlight to be lit whenever you use it. common sense tells us this will decrease battery life. this being said, my battery life seems about the same as before under light usage. I see two to three days regularly out of my phone with the standard 1500MAh battery. there are various battery system resetting techniques to be done, if you feel it's insuficcient, though. check xda developers for those.

It was stated in an earlier post that if you power down your phone before charging, the battery last longer (don't ask me why). I always turn my phone off while charging and it does indeed extend your battery life. After the update, it seems even better not worse. I get two to three days with moderate use, one day with heavy use.

What do you consider moderate use and heavy use?

I consider moderate - 4 email accounts set to 15 minutes or push, less than 10 texts, some internet usage, 3 account Sync on..BackUp Asst, GMail Mail & Calendar, and Hotmail Calendar, Bluetooth on, no widgets running. Heavy is when using the Navigation or Google Maps with the GPS plus the others. I do have excellent reception so that might have something to do with it.

Thats what I want to know what is moderate and heavy because when I dont even do anything my battery can drop 12% in a matter of two hours and can be down to nothing after 8 hours

my light use is using the internet 3 times a day to check 2 sites, and using the phone for about an hour a day. I see two days minimum, three days max. and yes, reception heaily influences battery life.

Have you checked the phone's "Battery Use Monitor"? When I first got mine I checked it and found that the display was consuming like 70% of my battery power. Mostly, this was just from me playing around with it.
Check your battery use:
Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery Use
This will tell you where your battery power is going. For example, what mine says tonight is this:
16 hours 47 minutes since last unplugged (battery power remaining about 70%)
Voice Calls 40%
Display 19%
Cell Standby 17%
Phone Idle 12%
Google Maps 11%
Android Live Wallpaper 2%
Android System 2%
Furthermore, I turned my display all the way down to the minimum and found it to be more than sufficient for everything except for outside on a bright day. I also set automatic brightness adjustment to "off". Check your display setting here:
Menu > Settings >Sound&Display>Brightness
I admit that I haven't downloaded the latest update yet (still waiting for you guinea pigs to find all the bugs) but when I do, I'll keep you posted..

Im sorry but I do not buy what your saying unless you really dont use phone at all. I have read many things about phone and not complaints and it seeems phone does not last that long with out charging.

keep in mind, I didn't used to get 4.5 days from it. I normally only got 3 days under the medium usage defined earlier in this thread. now with this update, I get this.
