Black screen on Galaxy S4.

I have a Galaxy S4 which is less than a year old.Purchased 10-15-2016. lightly used. The screen has gone black and nothing seems to restore it. I have removed the battery and reinserted it, which does nothing.

Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

An alternate hard reset would be an option to try to reset and restore the phone-

Other than that, a black screen is usually indicative of damage or hardware failure, so it may be time for a different device.
