Block Entire Area Codes?

I have been getting junk text messages from area codes 420 and 423. I tried blocking the individual numbers and each text message is from a different number. I don't know anyone in either of these area codes, and would like to completely block them. It appears that all I can do on this phone is block individual numbers. Am I missing something? Is there truly no way to block area codes from texting?

On my old Samsung Galaxy S4 running Lollipop, I was able to "block" entire area codes as well as area codes + exchanges. ("Blocking" at the device level simply sends calls directly to voicemail).
That ability has since been removed. It cannot be done on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running Nougat. Blocking is now done strictly at the individual telephone number level.

It was a nice feature to have. I still don't understand why it was taken away.

So it is possible and even offered once and Verizon prefers to support illegal spammers and let their legimate customers be constantly harassed. Just great

Staying on top of block options is certainly important. We are here to help! Although there is no option to block entire zip codes from reaching you, you are able to continue blocking the numbers that text you individually as you have been doing. This would be the best and most economic solution. To ensure we are on the same page, we do have a couple of questions. When did the unwanted text messages begin? Also, what do the messages reference or detail?

It would be trivial to do technologically and would cost Verzion nothing to implement. But it's all about Verizon wanting to charge you an extra $10/month for the ability to block more than 5 phone numbers.
That is why their initial blocking options are so useless; to force the upsell.

Individually blocking numbers doesn't work because the local number is spoofed from the same area code. Does not stop the spam from a specific region.

I do understand your frustrations with receiving these unwanted texts. I have experienced them myself, and I can attest that it is extremely frustrating. We have some options that can help you prevent and report these unwanted robo text/calls. Check out more information about our Call Filter app here: http://spr.ly/6188ECgKw. Does that help?

Which you charge an additional $3 per month. Seeing as how expensive your service is to begin with something like this should already be included for your customers. I also like how you give the regular version for free but want to charge for the plus. Nothing can really be done on the free version. The plus version is the only way to actually do anything about the calls but wouldn't be verizon unless they charged you for it.

We are sorry that this is not an acceptable alternative for you at this time. However, in order to get the additional options there is a charge for this process and service. If you are interested in getting this option we can add it for you or you can use your My Verizon application to complete this process. Please let us know if we can be of any additional assistance with this process.

The unwanted text messages started with a vengeance three months ago. They either have to do with weight loss, getting prizes from Amazon and Netflix, tracking lost packages from UPS and Fed Ex, Getting emergency loans. 95% of them are coming from 216 area code. I would like to block this whole area code as I know nobody who lives there.

It is definitely strange to hear they began around the same time, and the variety of topics the text messages cover. Have you ever replied to any of these numbers? Since the problem began, do you remember ever using your phone number to register for anything online? DavidR_VZW

jaimeg_vzw,
"...you are able to continue blocking the numbers that text you individually as you have been doing."
This is absolutely futile. Individual texts/calls are not the problem. Robocalls of this nature treat area codes as just a prefix. Unless you expect your customers to block 9,999,999 phone numbers from every problem area code then this is simply not an adequate solution. You might as well tell someone getting swarmed by bees the best way to deal with it is to swat away all the bees individually.

Guy_Thismahn, we can understand how receiving numerous Robocalls can be annoying. We want you to be able to take control of the type of phone calls you receive. Please follow this link https://vz.to/3eGgR71 to further review your options.

This only tells about robo calls nothing about robo text-different number everything but same message with a Happy Monday Happy Tuesday...daily from same area code every single time! 775. And the other info is about buying app(s). Whip I do pay for the call filter but that is great until get this all the time and being all different numbers, so who the heck wants to do every single # I received via text. Also, have been using 7726 and again still have to do with every single area code 775 because guess what? YEP a different #.
