I am noticing that my camera freezes on occasion and I am unable to take a photo or video and have to go through exercise of getting out of camera mode and then trying it again. Anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried going into the Application Manager and clearing the cache on the Camera app?
Yes, I am also having the same problem on a regular basis but recent for me too. I have had my Droid Maxx a long time now but I'm betting a recent "update" : / has caused this problem. I, too, have to close the app the best way I can and go back into it. Bummer if you needed "that" kodak moment, right?!!
