Can I Update An Un-Activated Galaxy S6 To 7.0?

I currently have an un-activated Galaxy S6 (was on Verizon but now on tracfone). I've heard of the update assistant for windows, but was afraid that I would have issues. I would really like to be able to update, as it has some features I would find useful.

Verizon Update Assistant. It worked just fine and my phone is now running

7.0!

I don't know why the update couldn't be checked for and completed over wifi only.

if you remember from a while back, i couldn't update a non activated s5 to 6.0 over wi-fi but best buy could.

I know that used to be the norm, but I think changed at some point since I was able to update two different Moto X models on wifi only with the SIM cards removed.

glad it worked, i tried to update to 6.0 again on my s5 with wi-fi & was unable.
