Can I silence my alarms as well as the ringer?

Is there a silent mode that also silences alarms?

...besides turning the phone completely off I suppose.

AllTooEasy, although there are operating systems that allow for the muting of alarms not all devices come with that ability. Other than disabling the alarm, there are third party apps available in the Google Play Store that offer that capability. You can find them by doing a search for Mute All, Mute or Silence.
