Can't install the Samsung Browser from the Play Store??? :(

The Samsung Browser (called Samsung Internet for Android in the Play Store) is my favorite browser, it is much faster and smoother than chrome (or any other browser available on android) and I used it everyday when I had the S6 Edge. I just got my S7 Edge and to my shock and dismay I get a "Your device isn't compatible with this version." message when I go to the apps page in the Play Store. The weird thing is every Galaxy S7 Edge I played with in Best Buy has the Samsung Browser. Verizon please fix this bug! I despise chrome and can't live without the Samsung Browser!

Did you check Samsung own store?

Just some information.  The T-Mobile, and AT&T versions it even says not compatible.

I played with the S7 Edge on display in Best Buy earlier this week and it had the Samsung browser on it.

Yes I am aware, but if you go to the App Store with those devices it even says it's not compatible.  That tells me even if it is installed or not it will not be updated or able to be installed until Samsung makes it able to.

Don't look at me.  I am just pointing out the reason why you can't install it is because Samsung has it where updates, and installs can't happen on the S7, and S7E's,

Honestly I think Samsung did right by not having it preinstalled.  I wish Chrome wasn't preinstalled either, or at least be able to be uninstalled.  Personally I don't use either.

Firefox Smiley Happy

Chrome for the most part especially on desktop is still ram hungry.  On a Chromebook it shows it's rear head like crazy about it.  On mobile that's why they abandoned the addons because Google doesn't seem to understand ram management.

I've tried Firefox, Chrome, Dolphin, Opera, CM Browser, UC Browser, and literally every other browser available on android and none of them are as good as the Samsung browser. The Samsung browser beats all of them in scrolling fluidity, browser benchmarks, real life page load times, etc. Also, the Samsung browser is the only browser that offers logging in to sites using fingerprint authentication. Really hope Verizon is listening and will fix this problem and allow us to download it soon.

That's a lot of browsers, sounds like the Samsung one has some good features. Have you checked with the developer (Samsung) to see if/when they plan on updating the consumer version of the app in the Google Play store to be compatible with your device? Verizon can definitely listen, but that's about it, for feedback, info and updates only Samsung can do that, so be sure to tell them you really want their browser.

Yeah, just contacted them. The reason why I think Verizon is to blame here is due to the fact that the Samsung browser is preinstalled on the S7 and S7 Edge on all the other carriers. I know this because I went to the AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint stores to check out their S7 and S7 edge and all of them have the Samsung browser. Only the Verizon one doesn't have it which must mean that Verizon removed it.

I totally agree that it's very likely that Verizon requested that Samsung not pre-install apps like their browser (which doesn't list the S7 as a compatible model in the play store yet).

It is common for there to be different pre installed apps on store/demo/test devices, especially pre launch, even in beta version. Verizon tends to not do third party betas in a consumer release before the app is officially tested and approved. Perhaps other carriers are more open to things like that, but I'm sure the previous security flaws Samsung had makes them want to wait also.

As soon as Samsung receives Google's final approval for the updated compatable version the play store will allow you to download the browser, as the carriers are not allowed to block or prevent compatable and approved app downloads per FCC ruling for consumer protection unless it's found that an app would cause harm to the network or a device.

Besides Verizon wanting to wait until official approval/release to avoid technical issues for consistency, I'm not sure what thier motive would be to prevent anyone from downloading an app like a browser, since they haven't blocked any approved ones before, they don't have a competing app or risk of revenue loss due to the app, so it wouldn't really be worth it for Verizon to do so soley to frustrate users.

It seems like a popular browser, and part of Samsung's software suite that they plan on continuing and progressing so if I had to guess I don't think it will take too long for it all to be finalized and available. And at least without the beta version users shouldn't have any issues with functionality, force closes etc.

One thing I found interesting thing I found... If Samsung has intention for people to use their browser or even give it a shot... They would at least allow people to import bookmarks lol

Verizon can't block apps from being installed from the Play Store...  It's Samsung that has it blocked at the moment...  Samsung has to fix the problem as I said before.  Samsung has it where no Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge can install it or update it and they have it marked as incompatible with all versions.  So until they update their developers portal you can not install it.

Smiley Happy They put on the phones, but for some reason they didn't update their portals for it.  This is like one of my peeves I have with manufacturers as they all do it from time to time.

So Samsung decided to keep it off the Verizon variant of the S7

They won't let you install it as pointed out from Samsung themselves.  So who's to say it was a Verizon thing and wasn't just oversight by Samsung and with them making it incompatible online for all S7 variants to update or even install it.
