Can't receive POP3 e-mail

I use pop.rcn.com to receive e-mail (POP3) and smtp.comcast.net to send (port 587). The inbox refresh button does nothing. Sending works okay. I'm very technical, so I'm pretty sure I've setup up the account correctly. (I've gone through the procedure multiple times, and the automatic verification steps that happen after pressing Done appear to succeed.)

I'm sorry you're not able to receive emails from your Pop3 account WalterOney. Is this the first time using this email on your device? Do you have any other email account set up on your phone? Have you had any software updates on your device?

First time (never had a smartphone before). I think gmail got setup, but I didn't use it except once to see if it worked. No software upgrades.

I fixed my problem by setting a 30-minute sync timer (had previously been set to manual). But I find I can't *send* e-mail to my SMTP account now.

Congratulations on your new smartphone, Walter! This will be a learning experience, but I feel you would get some great tips and tricks if you attend our FREE Wirleless Workshop http://bit.ly/oc2kd5.

With a smartphone, you will not see any previously sent emails that were sent from a computer. You will only be able to see sent messages that were initiated from the smartphone.

In order to check those out, you would go to the email icon on the phone & normally at the top where you see Inbox, you can tap that or the menu button to see other options such as the Sent emails.
