Cannot send or receive MMS messages

I have a new Samsung Note 4, 32 GB, almost 22 GB free,  14GB  free on SD card.

I cannot send or receive MMS messages .. no pictures, no group texts.

When I go to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks there is NO option to add an APN of any type.

I have tried MMS with both the device default Messages and with Verizon Messages+. Pictures are not sent or received. I have seen that many people have had this issue, what is the fix for it? This is the second Note4 that I am having the issue with. It is model N910V and was purchased new.

Have you tried clearing the app cache for the messaging apps?  How many text messages do you typically send in a month?

Yes and, Verizon Messenger + Is newly installed so cache would not be an issue. The number of text messages that I send per month is well under triple digits. Please note: "When I go to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks there is NO option to add an APN of any type." Is that they key to this issue? If so, how do I get the ability to specify and APN?

Also, this problem started immediately with the new phone and the default messaging app. I then installed Verizon Messenger + with no improvement. I had a new SIM card installed at the Verizon store and no improvement. My Note 2 sent and received fine with the SIM card that was originally in it, from the same ZIP code.  The Note 4 with the old or new SIM card will not send or receive MMS messages. My Data and WIFi work.

Dave,

We certainly want to make sure that you can use all of your features effectively. Are you not able to send/receive any MMS messages or is it to and from a certain number? With Verizon Messages uninstalled or disabled does the basic messaging app work?

1. If it was only a problem with certain numbers I would have said so. I cannot send or receive MMS messages from any of the numbers that I could previously send to and receive from with my Note 2.

2. As I noted above, I started with the basic messaging app which was unsuccessful and then installed Messages + and that also did not work.

Let me as you this. IS an APN name required for MMS messages to work?  As I also noted above: "Please note: When I go to Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks there is NO option to add an APN of any type. Is that they key to this issue? If so, how do I get the ability to specify and APN?"

And to add one more item, I am unable to send or receive MMS messages to my own phone. They always stay in 'Sending' status.

The APN should be pre-populated by the SIM card. Is there a VZWInternet APN already in the phone?

It's not a field. When you view the cellular networks setting, there is an option for Access Point Names (APN). When you touch that you view the APNs loaded on the phone. That is where you find the VZWInternet APN.

No, there is no setting that I see for the APN.

I do not see anywhere on the phone the APN.

There is no option where I can view the APN.

After further testing I have found that I cannot send and receive MMS messages when connected to WIFI, even though phone is also on the Verizon 4G network. If I disconnect from WIFI then MMS messages are sent and received. Shouldn't the phone be automatically switching off from WIFI when an MMS message is sent or received. My old Note 2 did not require manually turning off the WIFI

We appreciate the effort you've made to get this sorted out, Dave. Right now, do you have Smart Network Switch activated in your phone's Advanced WiFi Settings?

SamuraiDave, we understand how important it is for you to be able to send and receive MMS messages from your phone.  We are here to help you get this resolved.  Can you check to make sure your mobile data is turned on.  If mobile data is turned off you will not be able to send and receive MMS messages.

SamuraiDave, together we will get your pictures sent. Does this happen with different Wi-Fi connections or just one? If just with one Wi-Fi connection, have you been able to restart the router and test?

Mobile data is turned on and it is an issue with more than one WIFI.

To repeat, when WIFI is off, I can send and receive MMS messages, when i have WIFI on, I cannot.

My old Note 2 works fine if I swap the SIM card back into it. The Note 4 does not, it will not send or receive MMS messages when WIFI is on, it is obviously not auto switching. This is the second Note 4 that I am having the problem with.

Rather than go back and forth playing 20 questions, why don't you either point me to a site that shows what all the settings should be or, ask me in ONE communication about whatever settings you think may be problematic?

Once again I will state that I don't see any setting on the phone that shows the APN, that is the only obvious difference to me between my old Note 2 and my Note 4.

Thank you.

SamuraiDave, we want you to be able to utilize your message application even when on WiFi. Is your device currently updated to the most recent OS version? Also, is your messaging application also up to date if you are utilizing Message+?
