I keep getting notifications stating that certain apps cannot update. I am not sure why the notifications are coming, does anyone have an answer?

The notifications are coming from the Play Store. Have you opened it up and see if you can manually update the applications?

I have deleted some of the applications asking for updates and the notifications till show. Also, I turned off the notifications in settings and they still come through. I guess you can't delete an application that came on the phone like Kindle, You Tube, Samsung Push?

You can disable pre-installed applications, but not uninstall them completely.
The notifications for updates are coming from the Play Store. That is where you need to turn the update notifications. It works on my device.

Thanks for this, Ann. I don't get notifications about my apps being unable to update; I get notifications that there's 20 or so of them that are ready to be updated, almost all of them pre-installed bloatware that I don't use and never will use. Annoying!! Per your suggestion, I went to the Play Store and tapped the Menu key, then Settings, and there it is: uncheck Notifications and hopefully I will hear no more about it! I also tapped Auto-update apps and selected Do not auto-update. Then I just need to remember to check now and then for updates to apps I actually use. Thanks!

As noted above, you can disable the pre-installed apps.

Right-o, that's the next thing on my phone configuration to-do list (which is taking me a long time to get through because, to my surprise, it turns out I have a life ). After disabling some and hiding others, I'm then going to organize apps and widgets into folders to make for simpler access.
BTW, for those who haven't found it (and the user manual doesn't make it easy to find), apps, including pre-installed ones, can be disabled by going to a Home screen and doing Menu > Settings > More > Application manager, then scroll right to All and select an app. There will be a Disable button for the app. (On some things, such as AllShare or Certificate Installer, the Disable button is grayed out, I presume because these are things we ought not to monkey with.) Disabled apps will no longer appear in the Apps screen. They will continue to be present in Application manager, where you can enable them again in case you change your mind.
