Different music formats on my phone

On my computer and phone I have both mp3 and WMA files. If I stream from my computer to my TV or Blu-ray (both Panasonic) both formats work correctly. If I play music on my S4 once again both formats work correctly. However, when I connect the S4 to either the TV or Blu-ray player mp3 files work fine, but wma won't play. Any suggestions short of ripping CDs again in mp3 format?

This is an interesting question Orcrone! Let's check things out. What error do you get when trying to play a WMA file on your TV or Blu-ray? It could be that the file(s) are protected, which is why they won't play. Please let us know about an error message, if any.

Thanks Vanessa. The messages don't help much. The Samsung's error message says "Unable To Play", regardless of the device it's connecting to. The two Panasonic devices have messages of "Cannot Play" and "Cannot Read File", respectively. Ironically, when either Panasonic device connects to my PC via DLNA there is no problem reading wma files. MP3 files work across the board.

The digital rights permissions are on the computer and not the phone to allow you to play the WMA files.

But I can play the WMA files on the phone. I would think that without the permissions I wouldn't be able to play them on the phone.

The files play fine because you are only playing them on that device. However when you send the file to another device you could be broadcasting to a wider audience and therefore need a different type of permission.
