Disabling Facebook Messaging Preview pop ups

I have a Samsung Galazy S7 and cannot seem to disable the Messaging Preview Pop up that I use through facebook.  I have tried everything.  The only thing I have found is to mute it which does stop the pop up but, also turns off my notification light.  I was able to do this with my S5 but not on this.

I'm not a fan of unnecessary notifications either, cchabot2002. From the Facebook Messenger app, or by selecting the Messenger icon through the Facebook app, please select the person icon in the upper right corner. On the next screen, select Notifications & Sounds. From here, turn off notification previews.
