Display is turned on when I get a notification?

Hello. I noticed that whenever I receive a text message, my display turns on, thus showing my lockscreen and a preview of the message. Is there a way to keep the display from turning on whenever I receive a text message? I do not see the purpose of the display turning on when I use the LED notifier. Thanks in advance!

TheAlpha1550, that's good observation. You can change the Messaging settings on your device for notifications in Messaging. You will need to tap Messaging>Menu>Notifcations>Uncheck Lock Screen. These steps are for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Is this make/model device that you currently have?

There should be a setting in the text message application to control whether or not the display will turn on.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
