The built-in email application deletes messages on its own as soon as I try to view them. The messages are not in the deleted folder. What's going on and how do I fix it?
Fixed!
My system disk had crashed and I had to have Windows and Outlook reinstalled. Outlook defaults to deleting messages from the server when they are downloaded. Evidently, it also causes them to be deleted from other connected devices. I changed the setting (Account settings>change>more settings>advanced>delivery) to leave a copy of the message on the server. Now everything works just fine.
Thanks for your help.
Jerry
JerryB.,
Help is here! Making sure you keep these precious emails is crucial. What email provider do you have? Yahoo, gmail, MSN? (For your security, please do not post your email address.) When did this problem start to happen? When you log into your email on the computer, are the emails deleted as well? What make & model phone do you have?

The problem started about three weeks ago. I use a Samsung S5. I had opened the server settings so I could write them down, then closed them without changing anything. It hasn't worked correctly since.
My home email (outlook) works just fine. My provider is Time Warner (Roadrunner).
Thank you JerryB for the information. I am confident we can get this resolved. What email app are you using (since there are a few email apps, describe the icon and tell us the name of it)? What happens if you completely delete your email and readd it?

I'm pretty sure it is the one that came pre-installed with the OS. Its label is simply "Email." The icon is an envelope with an @ symbol in the middle.
By the way, I have also lost my deleted items folder.
