Ford Sync bluetooth issue; can receive calls and texts but cannot make any??

just got a 2013 escape and having an issue where i can not make any calls or texts via bluetooth but my S3 will connect and receive calls/texts just fine.
still searching for a decent answer, but if anybody can point me in the right direction to start, would appreciate it.

I don't have a SGSIII myself, but I believe this has something to do with a conflict between S-Voice and Android's native voice recognition. Hopefully this gets you pointed in the right direction.

There was a firmware update for most 2013 Ford Sync systems. Check and see if you car needs it. You can do yourself or take to dealer if needed. http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/software-updates-sync-myford-touch

i've confirmed its already the latest version.
i did get it working for 1 phone call at least, realizing it may have been my google voice settings throwing it off. but since then, I can not even get it to pair up enough to stay connected, let alone download my phonebook and make calls.
i am trying to figure out how to do the reverse pair and set a 4 digit pin which many sites suggest is the preferred by the samsung phones, but i still not get it. seems like other models say you can just hit the SEEK button, but not doing that with the sync w/nav. so far I can only verify with a 6 digit pin.
