They made it soooo hard. I entered 2 of my offers correctly to get the watch but the third the website page had switched to the VR screen without me knowing it and entered the promotional offer for the VR rather than the watch. It is for my 80 year old mother who would never in a million years want or use a VR. After calling both Samsung and Verizon and wasting about 12 hours there is nothing they can do soooooo in the name of bait and switch and nothing can be done about it I am leaving Verizon. What do you think of AT&T?

the offer is through samsungs. Verizon has nothing to do with it. You would of made the same mistake if you were a AT&T customer.

Verizon sent me the offer had their name all over it. I had the impression that if I upgraded and essentially renewed my long term contract with them that they would make good on the offer. Perhaps Verizon should not make deals with promotional partners that bait and switch. How can you say Verizon is not a party to this?

Did you read the fine print on the offer to learn how the offer works?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yes I did, and I followed them to a tee until the screen flipped from Gear S2 watch (where I had previously entered 2 other orders) to Gear VR without me knowing, and when I submitted the requested data it said thanks for submitting for the gear VR. Otherwise I would never have known it was not like the other 2.
Anyway, why is it my fault? Why make an offer for a choice of 2 things and then make it impossible to actually get what they offer? Why can't I just say look the wrong was ordered however hard I tried can you just switch it? Why isn't that an appropriate customer service answer?

IF you read the fine print, it was written the qualities were limited.

JEH1000,we're not pointing any fingers. We want to provide you with the next best step for this equipment order. Did you order your device from a third party or authorized agent website? Did you order your devices from our website?

Just to be clear what I did and did not do:
1. Received the email offer from Verizon. We have Galaxy phones that work just fine but our contract was up and I thought what the heck sounds like a good offer I will upgrade 3 phones and get 3 people watches, knowing it is a fair amount of work to switch phones.
2. Per the offer ordered all 3 phones online at verizonwireless.com and saved the receipt. It was easier to do them one at a time so I ended up with 3 receipts which I saved as pdf files in preparation of using them in the promotional offer. I tried to sign up for the watches after I pre-ordered the phones but you can not as you need to put the MEI id and another number off the actual phone.
3. I waited for the phones, received them last night and set up 2 of the phones - which is no small feat I think you would agree to get all the data over, set up all the apps etc While I began setting up the 3rd phone, I carefully went to the promotional offer website and entered the information selecting the s2 gear watch and phone information and uploaded the receipt for the first phone. After I was finished there was a link to enter information for another phone. Which I did for the second phone. And then the screen was left there with the link that said do you want to enter another phone, well I did but the phone was not set up enough where I could get the MEI and WEb numbers from it so I set up the third phone and clicked on that same link I did for the second phone, entered the information for the third phone and then after I hit submit it said thank you for ordering the Gear VR. That is the only reason I even knew that the information I entered for the third phone was not for a watch like the other 2. It is associated with an 80 year olds phone that would never in a million years want the VR. She did however want a watch. But too bad I guess.
4. It was very late at this point so I carefully recorded the promotional submission numbers and the Samsung number to call for help and decided to do it in the am today.
5. After waiting on hold and spending an hour with a Samsung customer support rep she said tough luck nothing can be done. I said is it Verizon I should be calling about my unhappiness regarding the situation and she said yes.
6. I called Verizon support and although the support rep genuinely tried to help me I believe the answer was still the same - nothing can be done. SO basically I say there is nothing I can do but find a new carrier. We were just at an impasse. No hard feelings but I though you should know the whole story and yes everyone can just blame it on me for not reading the fine print. Why not?

We don’t want you to feel like anyone is blaming you for this, JEH1000. We know mistakes can happen and we certainly don’t want you to cancel service. The promotion was done through Samsung via their website, which is why Verizon is unable to process the exchange. I am truly sorry if the promotional gift was not the item you were expecting. Have you considered selling the accessory and using the money toward a new S2 gear watch?

I have the same question for you. Since no one is to blame here would you mind selling the VR and putting the money towards getting me an S2 watch?
Thanks,
Janice

If you look at it you could return you devices and go to another carrier and still not end up with watches, as Verizon is the only carrier supporting this promo. I think 2 watches are better than none. You should really weigh the pros and the cons.

Thanks Leah. I appreciate your comments. When I switch it will be cheaper monthly so all in all no watches but I'll save enough money to make it worth while. So while you are right it is kinda a wash for me except for that fact that I don' trust or respect Verizon as a carrier anymore. This situation would be easy to correct. They are just unwilling.

JEH1000, we'd be sad to see you leave the Verizon Wireless family over the promotion. I do apologize that you had an issue with the Samsung website when trying to place the ordrer for the watches. Since this promotion is offered from Samsung, we would recommend on reaching out to Samsung direclty. They would be able to go over the details with you. Check out this link for a way to get in touch with customer support about the promotion: https://samsunghelpdesk.prizelogic.com/Tickets/NewWidget?sectionid=2085

This has been a disaster. First off the sales associate in the store didn't know what she was talking about. Multiple attempts to get correct answers by calling didn't help and then once we did get the correct information it was too late because they were sold out four days after phones started being delivered!
Misleading at best even with the fine print. Whoever came up with this promotion for Verizon should be out of a job. If the numbers are true then you are going to have 35,000 people happy they have a watch with ten times that amount extremely mad they were misled.
However I do believe they have now crossed the line into fraud by continuing to promote this on their website and social media knowing they cannot fulfill it. This afternoon I intend on filing a complaint with the FTC.

I know right? What company in their right mind (or customer satisfaction oriented) would ever agree to a promotion like that for their customers?

Aprilep,
We understand that promotions are great when it is an offer you can enjoy. Did you receive the incorrect item from Samsung? Please keep us posted with details so that we can assist further.

I agree with JEH1000. This whole promo was misleading. The only reason I chose to upgrade was because of the offer of the watch. Now it's the VR or nothing. I feel anytime I upgrade I am conned in one way or another.
