Galaxy Apps wont install on Lollipop

Yet another problem Smiley Sad

Okay we all know we go thru Google Play Store to update apps but what about the pre installed Samsung Apps? I'm talking about things like SHealth or Geo News or Samsung Print Manager; maybe Knox, etc.

I've been able to go to apps.samsung.com and download the apk file and install it to my phone.

However after Lollipop update it wont install; it keeps saying "App Not Installed".

I summoned Samsung who remotely logged in and couldn't figure it out. Just got done asking Verizon and theres no known issues. So I'm wondering if anyone has came across the "App Not Installed" during installation before and if theres a fix?

In the meantime I'm also hoping that more people can help report and alert to Samsung saying 'Hey theres an issue with our Lollipop version' lol

My guess. The applications haven't been updated to support Lollipop.

We want all of your apps to install without an issue. Is the message the same no matter which app we use? If we go into the settings on the phone, under security, is unknown sources checked to allow the installation of apps that aren't from the Play Store?

I have the same issue since installing Android 5.0 (aka Lollipop).

Andrew; possible clarification as well as new information.

So when I first got the Galaxy S5; Galaxy Apps wasn't pre installed; I don't know why. Play Store was but not Galaxy Apps. I went to apps.samsung.com and downloaded it to my phone; I chose install and it took it. Though there was at one time an error that appeared (same error now) but I cant remember how it got fixed.

Anyways I was accustomed to performing a factory reset almost monthly to gain the best battery life ever; however I hadn't needed to do a factory restore since October (which was great!). So the apk file used to install Galaxy Apps I moved to my SD card. Each time I needed to install it, it installed just fine.

Last Wednesday I installed Lollipop and then tried to install Galaxy Apps from SD Card; even the pop up saying "Allow Installation; just this once" didn't install my application. So I went back to Browser and thought "maybe theres a new version" I downloaded; attempted a re install and it still said 'Application Not Installed'. So I went back to browser and chose "Re Install Phone" cause theres 2 ways, 2 different apk and it still said "Application Not Installed"

Rebooting even into Safe Mode both files will not install.

As mentioned Samsung remotely connected to device and failed at a fix. Calling Verizon yielded no results.

Ironically I also had S Translator as an apk I downloaded a long time ago. S Translator is a pre installed App for Galaxy s4 but not s5 so I downloaded it in some way LOL but anyways it did install on Lollipop

Any new information on this? Just called a Verizon agent he commented saying some people are doing a factory reset and it actually works?

Id like actual proof/knowledge this will work before I try.

I told Verizon agent (just a few min ago) that I upgraded to Lollipop, then went into Recovery Mode cleared cache and performed another Factory Reset.............prior to downloading apps/setting up phone.......as once my apps got downloaded I eventually tried to install Galaxy Apps and it gave error. "App Not Installed"

So I can forsee how people have had apps installed.......upgraded to Lollipop.....tried installing Galaxy Apps wouldn't install then did a Reset and downloaded all their previous apps it worked. But what I did was like "Straight out of a box" lol

I discovered that SAMSUNG Galaxy Apps appears to be bundled within Android 5.0 (Lollipop) on the Galaxy S5. Try this:

Go to main Apps screen.
From the pull down menu, select GALAXY Essentials.
In the bottom left corner, select More in GALAXY Apps.

Sorry for the late reply. I did see what you're talking about however that still doesn't help me.

I cannot search for SHealth there either. So I cannot (in theory) post a review of the application), I cannot see when the last update was (besides doing a Check for Update seeing nothing new). Who knows if there are other Samsung Apps that I cannot access thru that way either

Have you tried looking in security and see if there is something in there that might be blocking you from adding apps from someone other than google playstore?

Add me to the list... attempted to install three versions of the apk, one supplied from Samsung tech support, none will install.

Factory reset DOES NOT FIX issue.

Oh... Galaxy Essentials is not a fix as it offers software but doesn't do what the app store does which is offer updates to existing apps (long before they are on Play Store).

I am having the same issue and it renders my gear S useless since gear manager needs to be downloaded from galaxy apps. Verizon when will this be fixed?

I had the same issue, because I, too, needed Gear Manager. But, it is still there, just needs a roundabout way to get to it.

Go into your app drawer. Hit the Menu button, then choose Galaxy Essentials. From there, I tap the back arrow at the top left of the window. And now you are at the Galaxy Essentials home page, just as if you launched Galaxy Apps directly from the app drawer.

Oh yeah, on the Galaxy Essentials page that first opens up, you can get Gear Manager. Easy peasy.

GEO NEWS is another application built in to the Galaxy S5; going by the above methods.........its still not showing up in the search bar.

GEO News isn't something I can launch and choose "Check for Updates"; I think I got a notification 2 weeks ago and I cannot remember if I did the update or not. Without me visualizing the actual app (like Play Store) I don't know if I'm up to date.

So I am really hoping Galaxy Apps is different than the Galaxy Essentials
