It's Tuesday, 11 June 2013, and rumors continue about the much anticipated release of Google Jelly Bean 4.3 (or some variant of it). Though it didn't happen yesterday the 10th as some had expected--others now say July, an article by Robert Triggs just a few hours ago on Android Authority begs the question "Galaxy Nexus passes through Bluetooth SIG, is Android 4.3 incoming?" Apparently, a GT-I9250 (aka "Maguro": GSM/HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus variant on AT&T/T-Mobile networks) was spied being tested against Bluetooth standards, a requirement for new update releases. That, my friends, is a major step toward our beloved GNexes getting another transfusion that's slated to resolve the over-discussed problems of overheating and rapidly draining batteries. Plus, gaining a couple of new features: a new camera UI and a power-saving Bluetooth upgrade to v4.0 that most higher end devices have. To read Robert Triggs' complete article, go to " http://m.androidauthority.com/galaxy-nexus-passes-bluetooth-android-4-3-224336/ " . I'm so (steam)punked, I check my phone's System Updates in Settings every hour or so.

Well, I have been a Verizon customer for 12 years, pre-paid for my Galaxy Nexus and pre-paid for a Galaxy Note 3. I just returned the Galaxy Note 3 and plan to suspend my account to try out the Galaxy Nexus 5 when it is launched.
Waiting on the GN updates from Verizon has really spoiled my whole experience with Verizon. I purchased the GN to receive the true GN experience, which I have not.

I'm right there with you. I called the other day to find out what my ETF will be. I'll be paying $150 to get out but it's worth it to me to (comments removed) give my money to another carrier. They have the absolute worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with.
Verizon should NEVER get another Nexus device of any kind.

I think the Google Nexus 5 will be announcement this week. If so, and it hits the Play store, I will be pre-ordering. Now, I need to find the right prepaid carrier.

Check out Aio Wireless. I bought a Nexus 4 from the Google Play Store about a month ago when they reduced the price, and I started using Aio Wireless as my carrier at that time. There are no contracts or sign-up fees, and the advertised price is what I'm billed each month (no hidden fees or charges).
It's from AT&T and uses AT&T's network. After using it for a month, I'm pleased with it. Honestly, the AT&T coverage in my area isn't quite as good as with Verizon, but it's close. I haven't found any dead spots, but there are times when the signal is lower than with my Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. It's still better than T-Mobile and Sprint, though.
Overall, Aio has been a good middle-ground between coverage, price, and phone options. The coverage is better than T-Mobile but not as good as Verizon. The price is better than Verizon and on-par with T-Mobile. Also, it supports the phones from the Google Play Store, and the FCC leaks of the Nexus 5 indicate that it will work on the Aio/AT&T network as well.
My Verizon contract expires on December 15th, and I'll be moving everyone else from my Verizon family plan to Aio then. I'll be saving enough money by switching that I'll be able to purchase a new phone from the Play Store every year.
It has been great having the Nexus 4 for the past month. It has Android 4.3, and the updates are pushed directly from Google and not Verizon or AT&T. I'm betting that it receives 4.4 (Kit Kat) before Verizon releases 4.3 for my Galaxy Nexus.

Thanks For the heads up on aio. I've been with Verizon so long I can't even remember when I switched to them. Their lack of support and continued lies that " we can continue to offer you the best value and the best support". Cements my decision more each day there's no news about an update. My signal went to crap 3 months ago and VZW "opened a ticket" to see what was happening with my phone. Aside from the roaming not having been updated (according to them) they blamed my new lack of signal on the foliage. Once the Nexus5 release I'm gone, once my contract is up I'll pull my three other phones as well.

We never like to hear it when our valued customers are thinking of leaving us lowenuf! We want you to enjoy your service in as many locations as possible! What type of signal strength are you gaining? Is this occurring in more than one area? What is your zip code? We are happy to review the area.

JonathanK_VZW I lose service every time I drive from my main office to one
of my branch offices on the main road from zip code 48888 to 48847, I
believe it falls in the Sumner zipcode of 48889 right around the Hubscher
Park area on East Stanton Rd / West Washington Road
JonathanK_VZW I'm thinking it's more along the lines of the members of this
board feeling the following
No 2 way communications on hot topic items
Little to no post sale support for products sold
IE: Where's our latest update(s) for phone X, or why didn't we get phone
docks with the POGO connection that non CDMA phones got.
A lot of this is perception so what I'm guessing is everyone here stating
they're leaving feels Verizon has turned into a Pump & dump company that
wants to Pump out items & Dump support for said item as soon as they
possibly can.
I can suggest a few things which "May" make people happier.
If Verizon can guarantee updates to every mid to high end for a minimum of
2 years past the discontinuation of sales with an acceptable timeframe ie
15-45 days after release by "Insert OEM here"
Clearly stating at what point certain phones will no longer be receiving
updates / first party support
When possible offer us up a Google Play Edition "GPE" Version of the Phone
or even a way to flash phones into GPE where possible... For example the
Galaxy S4

Thank you! I appreciate you following up, Pyro411. Service may have opportunities in the area due to distance to towers. You may see this when driving between towns as hand offs may not occur due to line of sight with the tower. Typically a reboot or toggling of Airplane mode will assist with the reconnection.
I do understand your concern here. We value and appreciate your insight. We're always here to help troubleshoot or assist with devices. We provide a great deal of information once it is officially released via our news channel, http://bit.ly/n5snpq

@YosefT_VZW mostly just posting that so VZW would know of a weak signal
area in their network. The phone will just disconnect and 1-3 minutes of
driving @55mph later re-connect signal wise & can call out again no problem

You're always here to troubleshoot or assist, except if what we want to know is actual answers to questions about the Galaxy Nexus. In those cases you just ignore all of the comments and questions as if they aren't even here.
You also provide a great deal of information about things none of us give a **** (I'll save the moderator the trouble of editing) about, when all it would take to appease your customers is to tell us if Verizon is working on the 4.3 update for the Galaxy Nexus....since part of having a Nexus device is the guarantee of updates....which Verizon is seemingly pretending don't exist.
So many businesses believe that its better to tell their customers nothing about timelines because they don't want to miss a possible release date. But when we are talking about testing hardware and software, your customers understand that problems can be discovered that need to be addressed, and will be understanding about missing dates. I'd rather you tell me that you wanted to have it ready by August 31st but found a glitch that needed to be addressed and now you are targeting October 21st....but instead you pretend that there is no information at all about a release until it is actually released....if it ever is.

Jonathan,
Thank you for responding. Unfortunately I've gotten to the point were I
don't believe Verizon, on a whole, cares about their customers beyond them
paying their bills and new customers signing up. In regards to our phones
working as a phones. My wife has already contacted customer support a
month ago and they sent someone out and determined that our sudden loss of
signal at our house (03222) was due to the foliage, my signal is commonly
in the -100db to -120db. Mind you I've lived there for 15 years and have
had Verizon for much of that time. The Tech she spoke with commented that
neither of our phones (both Nexus's) had updated the PRL (I think) in quite
sometime. My mother has the GS4 and had great reception while at my house
recently.
Also, while customer support here in this community laugh off the 4.3
update as "the need of the latest & greatest" (posted * *Oct 7, 2013 9:04
AM). 4.3 reportedly has a patch for the Bluetooth problems that arose with
4.2.2, among other things. My wife was rear-ended (at 55 mph) by someone
not paying attention recently so she is very sensitive to her Bluetooth
connecting and staying connected (I have the same issues). She is looking
at upgrading her phone but given the lack of response we are very
dissatisfied with Verizon's service given the monthly cost.

Ha. Foliage. That's a good one.
Updating the PRL....on an LTE device? That's another good one. I'd like to see the tech do that, since its blocked on LTE devices. Besides, they are supposed to self-update whenever the device powers on.
As for the Pooh-poohing of the 4.3 update.... its irrelevant whether Verizon thinks its important. Verizon SHOULD care if it is important to their customers. IT IS! Also, if you are selling a NEXUS device with a NEXUS experience, you damn well should provide what you sold.
I'm tired of hearing about how good the testing procedures are or how important it is. BS. No other carrier concerns themselves with testing an OS update on their devices for 2 months. Get over yourselves.

Thank you Verizon... May I have another?
A VERY dissatisfied Galaxy Nexus owner.
P.s. the article states sprint and t mobile HTC one owners have 4.3... So you screwed over your HTC one customers too.

Thanks for that tip. That is the first I've heard of that carrier, and so far it's the only one that has a resonable 4g data limit on its highest tier (7GB). And if the "unlimited" 3g holds true, it's a great deal. I just hope AT&T doesn't pull they plug on their unlimited data like they did with Net10 (although, for some reason I don't think they cut off StraightTalk yet, which is technically the same company). Regardless, Aio looks like it may be a better company to work with. Even the website seems friendly.

Not sure if it;s been said before, but here goes...
Verizon claims they must test each version of Android thoroughly before releasing them, and yet, since day one, the nexus has been nothing but problems, false claims, exaggerated stats etc when used on Verizon. If they test it so thoroughly why all the problems on every version so far?
I am on my 5th Galaxy nexus and each one has had all the same problems, 3g/4g connectivity, freeze ups, random reboots volume, dropped calls, battery life, (They claimed 8 hours of talk time!) etc,
Why has this never been addressed? why has nobody ever called out Verizon on it? It;s clear they DON'T test anything, Google releases the software, which has been pretested and working on Verizon 4G phones and Verizon just sits on it. To make matters worse every response from them , if you are lucky enough to get one of the forum letter replies, is the same Smoke blowing of, we test them because we want everyone's "user experience" to be......etc.
Yada Yada Yada. Whats even more disturbing is, (Google is fully at blame for this) unlike apple who dictates the rules to the carriers, Google allows the carriers to dictate the rules to them. Yes, apple has just a few phones to update, but when the new iOS is released every phone on every carrier worldwide, no matter what bands it uses or what other modifications were built into it, gets the update within a day or two! If Google (removed) they would just push out the update themselves or make it downloadable and let Verizon cry about it later, chances are, they would never even notice!

You know, the whole ...
... is kinda weird, I can understand profanity .... doesn't seem real customer centric to place language in your terms of service that specify what you can and cannot say in a forum. Especially, if the discussion is about how to fix problems while you are waiting months for an update.
