Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 Update - VZW FAIL

I am beyond irritated that as the flagship of exactly one year, Verizon continues to provide less than vague answers as to when we will be receiving this update.  I used to laugh at Sprint as a provider and swore that I'd never consider AT&T again as an option.  However, I have been awaiting Android 5.1.1 since June this year and have watched carries such as Spring and AT&T release 5.1.1 to their customers.  At this point, considering I pay about $125/month, I have been investigating other carriers and their service records and can honestly say, I am considering paying the fee to break my contract with Verizon to receive support and tech that keeps current.  In my estimation, Verizon should be offering credit to those of us that have been waiting months to receive this update to our [removed] devices which haven't worked properly since 5.0.1 was released.  I've been a customer with Verizon for 10+ years and can honestly say I have never been so disappointed with the service or lack thereof.   Get with it Verizon.  Stop treating your customers, whom are probably paying the highest bills based on the handset of their choice, like second rate piles of [removed].

I'm rather curious how much time and money was spent on Verizon creating their fancy new logo - perhaps the developers, designers and others on that team should have focused their energy on testing and releasing the update for their note 4 customers.

VERIZON FAIL!!!!!

So I work at Best Buy, I stopped by and had a chat with the Samsung rep....I said my phone is crap, he said which phone, note 4 I replied. His response, it's on Verizon isn't it.....he said it's his #1 worse phone out right now with bugs and issues. He said the lollipop update killed that device slowly.  Sooooo clearly verizon is going with...there is no issues as long as we don't admit there's issues.  Thanks Verizon for looking out for your customers.  I hate that I've been with you guys for 14 years and you treat me this way.  Thanks again!

Matthwo8, I happen to be at my local Best Buy and also had a conversation with a Samsung rep.  I happen to mention to him a comment from this forum about the possibility of Verizon skipping the 5.1.1 update and going directly to Marshmallow.  He said that could not happen since the updates have to be applied in order.  In order to get Marshmallow on the Note 4, they have to put 5.1.1 on there first.  This actually makes sense since there was a rumor that T-Mobile was going to do the same thing to their Note 4 users, but they sent the 5.1.1 upgrade out at the end of November.  Maybe T-Mobile found out that they would not be able to skip the 5.1.1 upgrade and go directly to Marshmallow.  If Verizon has plans for trying to skip the 5.1.1 update maybe they need to talk to a Samsung rep at Best Buy.

Is is possible that we are finally getting a meaningful update (5.1.1) on Monday?  I found this on Verizon's site:

The PDF linked is still from the August 2015 update for an Android Security Updates.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Mine updated after I manually pushed 'search for update' if you want to go that route but with the update it took away access to lock features. I can't figure out why. Nothing seems different except the keyboard is a bit less janky,,,

Hmm. I don't see it...

Stuff shouldn't have changed much. You should just have better perfoance and better battery life, plus the Stagefright 2.0 patch.

I haven't seen it available yet.  Checked OTA and upgrade assistant.  Guess we'll wait a bit longer than 28 minutes into 1/11/2016.

Yeah, the day of the OTA, I usually don't hear about the OTA rolling put

until around 11am and I check right around then and it's usually there. I

figure that'll be the same time frame, but I've heard of some people

receiving the OTA notification around 3am or so. Guess it just depends when

they want to open the flood gates.

Omg, i cant believe it! Verizon "claims" theyre actually giving us the 5.1.1 update today, 1/11/16. Even though it states it on the verizon update webpage, im still a bit skeptical until i see the update notification pop up on my device...this is due to the lack of information, misdirection, etc. But if Verizon is actually telling the truth for once in over 5 to 6 months, then i will gladly accept the update to fix my poor note 4's problems. Mixed emotions of happiness and relief (hooray, and its about time). Lbvs
