Galaxy S22+ voicemail notification not working

I am not receiving notifications when I have a voicemail message - and based on the message board, this is a system-wide problem with Verizon.    I had important messages go unanswered because of this issue.  I was unaware of the problem until I ran into someone who asked why I never responded to their voicemail message.

Hi! Thank you for reaching out to us. I got this information for you:

 

1. From a Home screen tap Phone Phone app icon.
If unavailable, swipe up to display all apps then tap Phone Phone app icon .
2. Tap the Menu icon Action overflow icon (upper-right).
3. Tap Settings.
4. Tap Voicemail.
5. Tap Notifications.
6. Tap Advanced.
7. Select the different notification options to turn on On icon or off Off icon (e.g., vibrate, notification dot, etc.).
8. Tap Sound to change notification sound.
